if you watch the news or read the newspaper i'm sure you've heard that whole foods has stopped selling live lobsters and crabs because it violates their rights to a good life. it's "inhumane" to have them live in tanks...and reading the story(the link is at the bottom of this entry) you find out that a lot of them stay in tanks for months at a time. and so it's like ok..maybe i can see their point..BUT my question is..do they know that half of the other meat products sold spend their whole lives in tiny pens possibly not even seeing the light of day? an example: veal. i mean..it does not solve anything..who knows how long they keep the frozen lobsters alive before they are cooked..i find the whole thing to be silly. i think if they want animals to be treated humanly(which i am totally for don't get me wrong), go to the root of the issue, and not just what we see in stores. i think veal is much more cruel than keeping lobsters.
