last night i had a fucking excellent time. I met cody, jimi's friend.... whose band i might be trying out for on drums... he came and picked me up and we headed downtown champaign to a club/bar whose name escapes me at the moment. he introduced me to barry and karen who right off the bat were exremely nice... then laef showed up with jimi so i was really excited. i met this amazingly nice gal named janet who works at this place i am applying for. its called Cunningham Home. its a place for kids that are dealing with a wide range of emotional and behavioral problems, special education needs and learning challenges. shes been working there 10 years and said i can put her down for a referance so i was really excited.

the first band was a local punk band called triple X.. i think? greg plays drums for them so i watched even though they werent my bag really. the next band i dont remember their name... but it was a bunch of older punk gentleman whom i dont think have bought a CD since like 1987. heh. ahh well. i give them credit for still rockin out doing what they love.

and THEEEENNN. best part of the night. Throw Rag. its this rock n roll band from California that i had never heard of and holy shit i'm in love!

they are older gentleman and words cannot describe their band. heh. the one dude plays a washboard which is hanging around his neck with a chain and has 2 cowbells attached at the bottom of the washboard and he also sings.... and then they have a sleezy bass player, a guitar player, drummer, and a fucking insane singer. i literally had a smile on my face during their whole set they were THAT awesome.

during the middle of their set the washboard player/singer came out in the crowd and just stood still. he was to the right of me, facing the opposite side. and after about a minute of staring straight he turns quickly... grabs my arm and runs me up on stage. i was like uhhh uhhh uhhh hi. he puts the washboard/cowbells around my neck, lets go.. and i almost fell to the ground it was that heavy. so at this point there was a bunch of people screaming my name ( huh? how do these people know me? i met you all tonight and you remember my name? crazy ). so the fella hands me one spoon... looks at me... hands me the other spoon and the song kicks right in. i start playing his bum with the spoons... and then i get down to buisness and i shred that washboard a new one. hahaha. it was awessssssome. but i kept trippin on the cord. heh.

so the song ends and he asks my name but i couldnt understand him so everyone kept shouting courtney. again i was like uhhh people know me that rules. he says "you know... you are wearing boy pants and a boy bag... and you are my hero" and then proceeds to ask me to take off my shoe so he can see my ankle socks. i couldnt stop laughing. so i exit the stage and they had about 5 more songs..... they were so super entertaining. afterwards everyone was like "woaah i didnt know you had such spoon talents" haha it was soo funny. god everyone here is so fucking nice. like TOO nice. its such a 180 from detroit.. people actually talk to you here and make an effort. i love it.

i met so many great kids last night. OOHHH yeah and i totally forgot about XjakeX... hes the only straight edge kid in champaign... well, not anymore. heh. he owns one of the clubs here in town too. and he rents out this dairy farm and im super stoked to go see it.. he said there is a bunch of room to skate in the back. woo.

so afterwards cody took me home... he only lives like 2 miles away.... which brings me to my next point i absolutly love the fact that everything and everyone is so close here.. i think the farthest person is 10 minutes from me so far. woooooo. then jimi came over and we made a 2am trip to schnucks. man i hate that place, i cant wait to quit!

ahhhhhhhh well i must go get dressed. i have to go open up a checking account and pick up jimi so we can go to sprint and try to get my phone fixed.
