14 years since grandpa passed away.
i swear it was yesterday. i had gotten home from second grade about 20 minutes earlier.... my brother doug was in the kitchen with mom... i was sitting 2 inches from the TV in the family room watching tiny toons..... the phone rang.... my mom picked up..... crying.... she hung up....
"doug... courtney... grandpa just passed away"
frozen. i couldnt comprehend....
i stared at the tv for a moment... trying to figure out the ball swelling in my throat.
tears.
mom scooped doug and i in her arms and we all just cried. i dont even remember for how long.
and it's never been the same.
but here's to Don and Goldie... dancing it up in heaven as we speak...
