I cannot with my life choices right now, okay. I decided yesterday I am going to slow the fuck down, prompt table or no prompt table, BUT INSTEAD, now I have 4000 words of Klaus/Caroline COLLEGE FIC on my hands. But it's for the wonderful florencia7 for a stunning prompt from an equally stunning poem (which i so totally did not live up to at all, um?) so I'm ( Read more... )

the brat pack is my legit angsty bff, character: caroline forbes, fanfiction: the vampire diaries, freud probably has a theory on it, fanfiction is a valid life choice, the show wants me to ship klaus/caroline, john hughes didn't pen your life story, fanfiction, the prompt table is the devil negl, patron saint of doomed ships, follow the yellow brick road, what even is my life?, character: klaus mikaelson, i love everyone in this bar

Thank you, even though I don't have a style per se, I think this may be my definitive Caroline-style!

Ah. I have only read your Caroline fics, I guess. This is a highly stylized piece of writing but you're saying it's your chosen Caroline style. Ha!

Ohh, LOL, I think I just randomly go along with whatever I feel like in the moment, so my angst in most fandoms is overly stylized, and the first Klaus/Caroline I ever wrote was ridiculously style-based. xD

If it's working don't fix it. I prefer stylized fanfic, myself. And I liked this. Very much.

I think I rarely bother with plot for oneshots, so I just do styles. It's a personal failing, but I'm glad it worked for you anyway :D

I am so pleased to hear a fanfic writer of your obvious skill state this so plainly. I really feel the same way and prefer ALL of my fanfic reading to be oneshots that are based on style and/or character. Of course, the slow burn oneshot is the brass ring, both as writer and reader, but I, personally, have issues with novel-length fanfic. This, to me, is fanfic perfection. (I suppose...I would have like to find out earlier that Caroline was trying to become "ordinary" but it still works like a charm. You really got alot of internal and external thought and action in there and that's quite impressive.)

Haha, yeah, I think unless the fic is long, I mostly just tend to limit it to character-exploration, which is my favorite thing anyway. But then again, I don't think much about writing, which I probably should, since I just tend to write in one go and then spend hours and hours editing. And I'm glad it works for you! Crazily enough I added in the part about why she was trying to be ~ordinary...right now, because I missed it in the original draft somehow, and I do things like this way too often :| Thanks so much!
