Summary
This is a post "The Gift" AU fic in which Buffy dies before she can save Dawn. The portal is not closed and hell is unleashed on earth. Most of the Scoobies are dead, save Spike and Dawn. Spike makes good on his promise he made to Buffy to protect Dawn until the end. This is an epic adventure where the two of them struggle for survival, and ultimately find happiness, in the post apocalyptic world.
Why I Think It's A Good Read
Wesleysgirl does such a fantastic job of answering the question we all contemplated in season 5... What would have happen if Buffy hadn't been able to save Dawn? The authors vision of hell on earth is vivid and terrifying. This is a hard hitting fic that makes no attempt of skirting around the horror and brutality stemming from the aftermath of the final apocalypse. "Let The World Spin" is real, and raw, and a shinning example of how it all could have been. Not many long fics can hold my attention, but this one had be reading it all the way through on the edge of my chair.
