Summary: Kurt Hummel hadn't attended school during the day in over a year. He is part of the population in Lima, Ohion considered to be an Other.

The auditorium was full, the lesson was close to starting and Kurt was yet again, without his usual company. Artie hadn’t mentioned not being in school and as a werewolf he really hadn’t any excuse to miss. A bad batch of blood at lunch and all Kurt wanted to do was hit the sack after most of it had made it through his system.

A whoosh of air and the relieved sigh broke Kurt out of his thoughts. Artie was sitting on one side of him and on the other Blaine sat with a cheery smile. Kurt raised a brow at Blaine’s appearance, “Someone made it to night school.”

“Is it bad that I find this so much better than my old school?” Blaine whispered as the lights flickered before turning off and the projector whirred to life.

“No,” Artie snorted in amusement, “I think everyone here will tell you that they like McKinley Night better than their old school.”

“We’re all freaks,” Kurt shrugged, “No reason to point it out when we all already know it.”

“It’s not just that,” Blaine’s voice rose a little in excitement. “We get to take a class to learn about ourselves, and different Others. We get to see part of the world that no one else knows exists.”

“He’s just excited,” Artie shrugged at Kurt’s curious gaze. “And it feels good to get out of the house and to a place where you don’t have to pretend to be human. You’re just you.”

“Ah,” Kurt hummed and closed his eyes. He was tired. The drone of Professor Singer’s voice didn’t help but to soothe him into a light doze. That combined with the extra body heat of being squished in between two werewolves made it even harder to keep his eyes open.

A warm hand settling on his wrist brought Kurt from the edges of sleep. He looked up to Blaine’s curious eyes, “Are you okay?”

“Tired,” Kurt rubbed at his eyes, “Unusually tired for some reason. Maybe a bad lunch or something. I’ll be better tomorrow night.”

“Do you want us to,” Blaine stumbled and gave a small smile to himself, “Well I was going to offer to help but I don’t know what that would actually entail.”

Kurt chuckled, “Just the offer was enough. What are you two getting up to after class?”

Artie shrugged, “Blaine was going to hang out until about four and then head back home. Strength in numbers.”
Kurt sighed, “You both can come hang out at mine if you would rather. Might not be much company but at least you won’t have someone watching you like a hawk.”

“Sounds cool,” Blaine nodded and his eyes widened as he tuned back into the lecture. “He’s moving on to werewolves tomorrow.”

Kurt cuffed Blaine on the shoulder, “Now I’m going to know all your secrets.”

Kurt stepped into the kitchen immediately going for a fresh bag of blood and he gestured for Artie and Blaine to help themselves to whatever human food that his dad had lying around.

“You hungry kid?” Burt was rubbing at his eyes as he shuffled into the kitchen in a pair of sleep pants and a robe.

“Think they served some old blood at school today,” Kurt shrugged, “Just need something fresh. You mind if we hangout and watch television or something for a bit.”

Burt shrugged, “Told you they were welcome anytime. Just keep it down. I’ve got an early start to a long day tomorrow.”

“You want me to get anything ready for you?” Kurt asked as he ushered Artie and Blaine out of the kitchen and towards his bedroom.

“Not a thing,” Burt clasped Kurt’s shoulder with a gentle squeeze, “Just let me know if you’re still not feeling well. I’ve got a buddy I can talk to who does the accounting for the garage who might know a little bit about why a vampire isn’t feeling well.”

“Dad, it was just a bad lunch but I promise if I’m not feeling well I’ll let you know so you can ask your undead accountant what my problem is.” Kurt reassured his father with a dramatic eye roll.

“So,” Blaine plopped down on the foot of Kurt’s bed watching the lightening fast channel changing Artie was performing.

“Stop!” Kurt pointed towards the television as if the motion would let Artie know what he was thinking. “Storage Wars, three channels back. Barry was supposed to find some crazy head piece or something in tonight’s episode.”

Artie barked out a teasing laugh, “Looks like tonight is your night Kurt, there’s a marathon.”

“You think this show is stupid,” Kurt narrowed his eyes as he sat down at the head of the bed, resting against the headboard and sliding his socked feet beneath Blaine’s thigh absent mindedly. Artie laid next to Kurt humming some song they heard on the drive here under his breath.

Blaine knocked a hand at Artie’s knee trying to shut the werewolf up, “Dude, the bid is on.”

Burt trudged down the stairs just before sunrise to check in on Kurt. He had to ignore the bundle of werewolves that decided Kurt was the perfect pillow. He tapped Kurt on the shoulder. The vampire cracked a tired eye open, “Dad?”

“Feeling better?” Burt eyed his son’s companions curiously.
“Tired,” Kurt shrugged. “Heading in?”

“Just wanted to check on you before I couldn’t,” Burt backed towards the stairs. “Make sure these two don’t turn you to ashes.”

“They don’t run that hot,” Kurt rolled his eyes and curled back into the puppy pile he was in the middle of. They hadn’t been asleep for long and his bones ached with the impending sun rise. “Have fun at work.”

“Have fun at school,” The sarcasm was heavy in Burt’s voice.
