2006 - The Year of No Temping
001 What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Three words: LAS VEGAS STRIP
002 Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My resolutions always consist of things like “be less crazy” and that NEVER works out for me. I am not going to bother this year.
A very serious resolve: LESS ROCK OPERAS
003 Did anyone close to you give birth?
My neighbors had a baby girl - a baby girl that will someday BE MINE.
004 Did anyone close to you die?
Grandma Fag Hag. I am pretty unhappy about that turn of events.
005 What countries did you visit?
Little Ethiopia. East Las Vegas. North Hollywood.
006 What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Money.
007 What date(s) from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Eh, nothing really specific. I had a lot of REALLY weird chunks of time that mostly involve Rock of Ages, so you know, January - March and then the month of May.
008 What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
NO TEMPING.
I stage managed 9 shows, PSMed 3 of them (moving up!).
009 What was your biggest failure?
Saving money, toning down the crazy, sobriety.
010 Did you suffer illness or injury?
Well I got hooked up to a saline drip one fateful eve in January. Then there was the whole back situation that turned into an expensive chiropractor bill to roll around on a foam cylinder. But I have been pretty healthy. Too busy to be sick.
011 What was the best thing you bought?
iBook!!!
012 Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My own - I put up with a lot of unusual crap this year and triumphed.
Justin Scott for living with me/me for living with Justin Scott.
Chandler took a lot of crap from me. Grant Landry as well.
Mari for coming to Vegas, even though it was the worst time ever.
I didn’t see Erin enough, although she is usually listed here.
013 Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Some producers.
014 Where did most of your money go?
Sanjo Properties and Target. And recently, into the little Saturn that could(n’t).
015 What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Rock of Ages
Fiesta Cantina
Sharing a couch with Justin Scott
CHRISTMAS DINNER
016 What song will always remind you of 2006?
Any 80s hair band classic, Margaritaville, Chorus Line
017 Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Happier.
-ii. thinner or fatter?
Hard to say - this time last year I was on the Rock of Ages diet.
-iii. richer or poorer?
Richer, which is alarming.
018 What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleeping
019 What do you wish you'd done less of?
Substance abuse? Fighting. Sad long talks.
020 How will you be spending Christmas?
The Martens family is coming to town - which means Lindsay Martens is cooking dinner. That should be comedic.
022 Did you fall in love in 2005?
No more than usual. You know - with some cast members, which is always inappropriately expressed by saying things like "Sometimes when you sing, I want to fuck you." For shame, Martens.
023 How many one night stands?
Uh, that’s between me and the forest…
024 What was your favourite TV program?
The Idol, The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, Meetkat Manor, BLISS (a late-night Canadian erotic episodic drama), and all the crap THE BOSS makes me watch.
025 Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I have strong disdain for people that I barely knew this time last year, but I like to think I do not care enough about them to HATE them. I think I am hated by some people who I was not hated by this time last year (cough Thomas Waters cough)
026 What was the best book you read?
Betty Garrett’s autobiography?
027 What was your greatest musical discovery?
I discovered that I REALLY like Journey…?
028 What did you want and get?
Work, work and more work.
029 What did you want and not get?
I almost had the opportunity to go on tour and that didn’t work out. That's pretty high on the list of wants.
030 What was your favourite film of this year?
GRIZZLY MAN!, Little Miss Sunshine, THE ROOM
031 What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
24, had a lovely surprise-ish dinner with Chandler and Mason (trifecta birthday notwithstanding). Then we went to Fiesta Cantina, GOT SHITHOUSED, karaoked and don’t remember the rest of the night. Repeated one week later for Chandler’s birthday. RIDICULOUS.
032 What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Probably if the first three months of the year had turned out a little differently.
033 How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Um Stage Manager Chic? Dark Princess? (But wait, I did purchase and wear dresses a couple of times).
034 What kept you sane?
Substance abuse? Friends (the TV show). And my friends. Seriously, I probably wouldn’t have lived through January - March without a couple of select people.
035 Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Chris Hardwick - that guy’s got a lot of spirit. Oh and Jojo - Big in ’07...man, that Aquamarine!! WOAH WOAH, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS. duh.
036 What political issue stirred you the most?
Um, pretty much nothing. I have been a really bad citizen this year.
037 Who did you miss?
I reunited with many old pals this year like John McAbee and Leif and Gavin (only for 5 unpleasant minutes). I don’t think there really is anyone to miss. Grandma, I guess.
038 Who was the best new person you met?
Chandler, Mason & half the state of Alabama. David Mingrino. Betty Garrett.
039 Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Do not allow myself to be taken advantage of and disrespected just because I am young (careerwise, that is). And I am starting to learn to not constantly be so hard on myself. Lindsay Martens does not hate Lindsay Martens, contrary to what she says after a bottle of champagne.
040 Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Wastin away again in Margaritaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that theres a woman to blame
But I know its my own damn fault
Yes and some people claim that theres a woman to blame
And I know its my own damn fault
Truer words have not been spoken in 2006.
