I'm about to leave my parents house to go to my house. Anyone who wants to meet me there and help me move is more than welcome. We spent the night last night at my grandmas farm with no power. The power went out somehow, so I went to bed at like 10:30 and woke up at about 7. That was very weird. We made good time though, leaving Missouri at 8:30 and getting to Norman around 4. There are a lot of Amish that live around that area in Missouri. They have big, plain, drab grey farms and there are Amish Crossing Signs on the roads. The sign has a picture of a horse-drawn carriage. If you pass them, they'll wave at you when you go by. I just thought of our no power incident as a one night Amish experience. You don't realize how much you use it until you go without it.
I heard about why the Amish dress why the do. Apparently before the moved here from Germany, They were subject to another group, and that other group made them wear bright striped clothes with big buttons and the men wore only mustaches. That's why when you see them, they have drab colors on, the men have beards with no mustaches, and the clothes have small buttons or no buttons. As a rebellion.
