Raised by Wolves

So my internet went out for a few days. I actually did better than I would've thought, but while it was out blah blah blah, blurry wedding photos, my friend's cute boyfriend, a galaxy far far away, triangle-shaped cheese and the Beatles. Anyway. There's really no interesting way to tell that story. The point is, I've realized lately that I'm unforgivably behind on pretty much everything pop-culture. Like, as I think I've mentioned, I'm watching Buffy right now for the first time ever. And I've never seen a single Star Wars movie. Also, what's this I hear about a young man named "Elvis?"

I was recently told to read the Bible, too, but that happens enough that it doesn't count as a coincidence. (For clarity's sake, there were some coincidences in the blah blah blahs up there, but they were boring. Much like the rest of this entry.)

You get the idea.

AND SO! A question:

What's the one media-related thing you think everyone should know about? I don't mean rec me your favorite movie or whatever. I mean, what's the one single TV show, movie, book, album, or whatever that's totally culturally necessary as a 21st century American?

That makes it sound like I'm an alien trying to infiltrate your society. It's late and I'm tired.

And not an alien, for the record.

ETA:
HOLY WHAT THE FUCK!?
Eri, JunJun and LinLin are graduating? And I repeat, HOLY WHAT THE FUCK!? I don't even know how to process this, or why it freaks me out so much. I didn't really even bat an eyelash when Koha left. Maybe it's because there are three this time, and I'm kind of fond of all of them. And maybe because it's the two newest ones - I never really took the "exchange student" thing seriously. I've been wanting 9th gen auditions for a while now, and apparently that's going to happen, but I'm a pessimist and don't really have a lot of hope. Plus, it seems Tsunku's talking about another 1 member generation. Although that's how 8th gen looked for a while, so there might be something else up his sleeve. The whole thing's exciting, sad and shocking and I hope my brain processes it all while I'm sleeping and then tells me what I think about it in the morning so I don't have to decide on my own.
