Ryo-shortSummary: It's a miracle that Ryo was born.
Warning: It's yao. Don't lik? Don't read!
Nishikido Masahiro was born in 1881. His parents had almost given up on having a child but at the age of 48 she gave birth to this little baby. An angel, a darling, a little doll. He was well adored by his parents, as well as all the villagers and was surely pampered by everyone.
When he started to walk at the age of 1 year and 2 months everyone was delighted. Of course, in the beginning, it was exciting to walk behind the small baby. Seeing the angel standing on his wobbly legs, and tumbling down all the time. It was a cute sight and very amusing. But when the little child was running around all over the place, the game started to become less fun and more exhausting. Hence the little child was on his own. No one did know that they would regret that day forever.
It only took a mere second. The little child was running around again. He didn´t look where he was going, because, does any child do? With a hard blow he walks against the kitchen table. Since one of the table legs was shorter than the other, the table started to shake violently, and the not so stable, burning candlestick fell on the ground. Since the house was made of wood, the fire started to spread rapidly. The cries for help of the parents weren’t enough to wake the sleeping villagers. The baby’s parents died while trying to safe their baby boy.
The once so loved Masahiro was now hated by the villagers. While he was first an angel, he was now called a demon. The flames had scarred his face and his soul. He lived a lonely life, outside of the village. He was doomed to die alone and it would be the end of the Nishikido family.
When he was 30 years old, four children went to his house to see the famous demon of Motono. One of them was a little girl of 10 years old. When Masahiro heard the strange sounds outside his house he opened the door slightly and poked his head barely outside the door to see who was there. The children, gotten scared, screamed and ran away. Everyone but that 10 year old little girl. Perfect, with the sun in her skin and water in her eyes. She just stood there and looked at him. Behind her, the three other kids, started to yell ‘demon, demon’ at him and told the girl to come back. She smiled at him before she walked away.
Since that day the little child came to him every day. In the beginning she just stood there and smiled at him. After a few weeks she started to say a few words to him. After a few months, she would just walk inside his house, and after a year they had conversations like real friends. She was only ten, but since Masahiro was so lonely, it didn’t mind at all.
Then she just didn’t come anymore. Days, weeks, months and years went by. But on her twentieth birthday, when he was 40, she was suddenly standing before his house again, smiling and saying a few words. ‘Marry me.’
No one had ever thought, no one had ever believed on the day that Masahiro was scarred by the hot, burning flames, that he would ever marry a girl. Especially not a girl as pretty as she was, with the sun in her skin and water in her eyes.

It was a hot sunny day in 1937 when a 15 year old Nishikido Ryoma went fishing with his two best friends. Life wasn’t easy for him. He was often bullied because of his father’s deformed face. But because of Ryoma’s carefree attitude and honest character, the other children had started to enjoy his presence and loved to play with the nitwitted kid again. Not to mention that he was turning to be a beautiful child, just like his mother, which earned him to be quite popular among the villagers.
As the three teenagers passed through the city, they got into all sorts of harmless mischief, making the market salesmen yell at them and raise their fists but no one could stay angry for long at the boy with the sun in his skin and water in his eyes.
Just outside of the village the three teenagers saw an old lady. They have seen her more often. The old woman’s face was deformed just like his father’s face was. She were grey clothes and they were torn and dirty. She was poor, never had a real job before because the people thought she was a demon and now she was begging on the streets. Holding her hand out for at least enough money to buy bread.
A man passed the old lady and as always the woman asked for alms. Asking if he could help an old lady to be able to buy food. When he walked by without stopping, the lady held his yukatta and asked again if he could give her some money so she could be able to buy food. The man got angry and scared because the demon touched his clothes. In his rage he kicked the old lady a few times before walking away.
Ryoma saw what happened and felt pity for the old woman. His father was just the same like her. If he had never met Ryoma’s mother, maybe he would be sitting like this as well. So the young man walked to the lady, helped her up and asked if she was alright. The woman was shaking ferociously. She looked at him through her brown eyes and Nishikido Ryoma thought that she had very kind eyes. He opened his knapsack and took out the bread he had wanted to eat for lunch while fishing. He gave it to the old lady and smiled, telling her to eat this. The old lady looked at him and smiled. She took the bread and took a hungry bite. ‘I want to thank you for your generosity.’ The old lady said. ‘When you are feeling like you hit the wall with your back, just remember to take a big step back.’ The young man thanked the old lady for the good advice, laughing heartily, and continued his way with his friends.
t didn’t take long before they reached the pond, in the middle of a wide open field. And the three man enjoyed their fishing. It was maybe three hours later when the once so blue sky changed into a dark mass of clouds. The three friends started to feel anxious. It looked like it was going to be a big thunderstorm and it would take at least 20 minutes before they could take shelter in a shed. They started to run anyway. All was better than to stay in this place.
Soon, the thunder and the lightning reached them. Ryoma stood still, breathing harshly. He looked at his friend in front of him still running, and suddenly he felt like all hope was lost. He was never going to reach the shed on time. He was going to die in this thunderstorm. Suddenly he remembered the words of the old lady. ‘when you are feeling like you hit the wall with your beg, just remember to take a big step back.’
And so he did. Ryoma breathed in and took one big step backwards. Just when he took that big step back, the lightning hit the exact spot he had just been standing on, leaving a burnt spot right in front of his feet. This shook Ryoma out of his somewhat depressing ideas and he started to run again. But when he was taking shelter in the shed, he thanked the old lady for her wise words.

In the year of 1953 the wife of Nishikido Ryoma had gotten pregnant. They were ecstatic since they had tried a lot but it had looked like she wasn’t able to have kids. Though when she was 31, after 5 years of trying she finally had a baby. After surviving the war all that Ryoma wanted was to have a nice family with lots of kids. He was of course very disappointed when it looked like it wasn’t going to happen.
But in the end his wife had gotten pregnant after all. The pregnancy ran smoothly. The baby grew well and moved a lot. In Spring 1954 the contractions had started. Even though the pregnancy went so very well the childbirth was running all but smoothly.
Because while she was pushing they found out that the baby was lying in breech presentation. They were still in their own house though so a caesarian section was out of the question. But if she would give birth to the child the normal way, it would be highly likely that the child wouldn’t survive.
It was a cruel birth. Nishikido Ryoma’s wife had to withstand a lot of pain. And it took long before the baby boy was finally born. The baby had turned completely blue. Clearly lacking oxygen. The mother started to cry hysterically and Nishikido Ryoma, who standing in a other room fell down to his knees and started to cry as well, for the child he had just lost.
Even though survival rate was so low, one of the nurses took the baby, cleaned the lungs and held it by his feet. She hit the baby’s bottom thrice. It was completely silent in the room. Was a miracle about to happen?
Suddenly the baby started crying loudly. Ryoma, the other room, got to his feet. He couldn’t believe he heard the cries of his little baby. He walked inside the room and saw his wife and his baby together. He sat down on the bed next to her and looked at the little boy, giving him the name Akihiro.

I will never forget these three stories that my mother used to tell me. I would crawl on her lap and listen to her warm voice and it would always end with this:
“Now you see Ryo. If your great grandfather had never married, if your grandfather had never took that step back and if your father hadn’t been born, you wouldn’t have been here, sitting on my lap. I wouldn’t have my Ryo.”
And then she would look at me and she would smile.
“So always remember that you are a miracle.”

“Okay everyone it’s time to start eating your fruits now.” The young teacher of the Hinamura kindergarten said.
“Hai..” Chanted the children. Every one of them put down their coloring pencils or glue or whatever they were using at that moment and took their fruit. They sat down in a circle. Every little child ate their fruits, except for one.
A little child was looking at the poster in the middle of the class. He was tiny, tinier than most children in the class. If you looked at him, you wouldn’t believe he was four like the other children. You would’ve rather given him the age 2 or 3 but definitely not 4.
Hina-sensei walked to the little child and patted his head. “Ryo-chan. Why aren’t you eating your fruit?"
The child still looked at the poster in front of him. It was a picture of the beach and the sea. She often caught him staring at the picture.
“I went to the sea once.” The young child said.
“Really Ryo-chan? That’s nice but you should eat your apple now.”
“Ne sensei..” The kid asked. “Do the waves keep going at night?”
The teacher chuckled and patted his head again. “Yes Ryo-chan they do.”
After eating fruit, it was time to play outside. All the children ran outside and started to play immediately. Some children played tag. Others were sliding down the slide, others were sitting on the swing but one little boy was standing alone. Looking at the clear blue sky.
Hina-sensei walked once again to the short boy and looked at him. “Ryo-chan. Shouldn’t you play with other children?”
“Ne sensei..” The child asked again. “Where do stars go when it’s day?”
The younger teacher sighed. “They are still here Ryo but we can’t see them, cause it’s too light now.”
The short boy nodded. He didn’t really understand but the answer was alright.
“Okay children, listen.” The teacher said. “We are going to draw which job you want to do later. What would you like to be Saku?”
“A policeman.”
“very good and you, An?”
“I want to be a teacher.”
“That’s very nice.”
One little boy raised his hand quickly.
“Yes Ryo?”
“I want to be the person that paints the lines on the road.”
Hina-sensei looked at the short boy and shook her head. “Aah yes. Ryo that’s good.”
The children were outside again. All were playing except for, of course Ryo.
Again the young teacher walked to the short boy, sighing deeply. “Ryo, you should really play now.”
Ryo just pointed at the high tower he could see.
“Ne sensei.” He asked again. “How tall is that?”
Hina-sensei looked at the tower. “It might me 80 feet Ryo..”
The young child frowned and looked down. “Ne sensei.. Who’s feet? Yours or mine?”
The woman shook her head but couldn’t help but smile a little. ”Ryo, you are impossible.” She said, smiling.
Ryo shook his head. “No I’m not.”
Hina smiled. “Then what are you?”
“I am a miracle.”

Ryo looked his eyes out. There were so many boys who auditioned. All of them wanted to be at Johnny’s entertainment. A few of them were already looking very handsome. He still was so short. A lot shorter than the others were.
Ryo softly hit his cheeks twice and rubbed his eyes, telling himself that he could do this. He looked like Takizawa after all.
He was standing in a group of five boys. They were all so very excited. One of them was terribly calm though. As if he didn’t mind at all. Ryo was terribly nervous. He couldn’t believe anyone could be calm. They seemed like nice guys though. Suddenly one of the guys started to ask for their names, addresses and phone-numbers though. Ryo looked at him strangely. He didn’t even know the guy.
“Can I have your address and number too Ryo-kun?” the boy, Yasu was it, asked.
Ryo had to think for a while. He really didn’t know why he should give him the number though. After waiting for a while, he at last decided to give him his address and phone number.
“Tadaima.” A short boy walked inside his own house and let the others notice he was home.
“Okaeri..” His mother came to him quickly and pressed a kiss on his cheek. “did you have fun at school.”
“Yes mom.” Ryo smiled and put his schoolbag down. “So did they call?”
His mother shook his head. “No I haven’t heard anything. Oh Ryo. How can they not call, even though you went to ‘Kyo to Kyo’.”
“These are stage plays after all. I think they only call the best.” Ryo raised his shoulders. “Well can’t worry about it now. This must be the end already.”
“But Ryo, how can you say that. Your audition went so very well. I can’t imagine they don’t want you for more than this.” His mother said.
“We’ll see mom.” The boy, once more, raised his shoulders, picked up his bag and went upstairs.
It was evening, and the whole family was watching television. Something they always did after dinner, watching their favorite shows and at the same time catching up with each other. One of Ryo’s brother picked it up.
“Nishikido residence. Yes. Okay.” He placed the telephone on the table and walked back to the couch.
Ryo looked at his brother and stood up. It must be Saku, his friend from school. He picked up the phone with a simple Ryo, since he thought it was his friend.
“Nishikido Ryo-san?” An unfamiliar voice said at the other end.
“Yes.”
“I’m glad I can finally reach you.” The man said. “My name is Imoto Kei. I’m from the Johnny entertainment business.”
“Aah souka.” The short boy said.
“You cannot imagine how long we searched for you. You wrote your contact information wrong. We couldn´t reach you at all.”
After a while Ryo closed the phone and walked back the couch. His mother looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Who was that Ryo?”
“Aah Imoto-san from Johnny entertainment.”
His mother sat upright immediately. “What you are only telling me now?”
“Yeah they called for the stage plays. I’m in.” Ryo said, nonchalantly.
“But why didn’t they call sooner then?” His father asked.
“I wrote down a wrong contact number.” Ryo said.
His brothers chuckled. “That’s our Ryo.” They said, smiling.
“But then how did they get our number?” His mother asked.
“I guess Yasu gave it.”
His sister looked at him as well. “The weird guy? You didn’t want to give it right? Well guess you are happy you did.”
“I knew it Ryo.” His mother said and hugged him. “I knew you’d be in.”
Ryo smiled. “Of course, I’m a miracle after all.”

Yamashita was really a sulking kid.
That’s at least what Ryo thought. He should cheer up a little! He was the lead singer of this band and he was able to debut. He should be so thrilled. So what he wasn’t able to debut with the four hots, or something. He was at least able to debut.
Every one of the guys was scared of this guy. He was always sulking and looking at the others angrily, as if it was their fault, Johnny put him here.
Hell, he must’ve not worked hard enough. Unlike him, who was working his as off, here and in Kanjani 8. Of course his luck was on his hand as always but that didn’t mean he wasn’t working.
“Eto…” Massu walked towards Yamashita Tomohisa, who was once again moping around in his little corner of the studio. “Eto… The manager said to practice our dance today.” He said after gaining enough courage to talk to this man.
Yamashita just looked at him angrily and didn’t say anything.
The other boy gulped and walked back again, whispering with one of the other guys.
Ryo made up his mind. That was enough. He had enough of the guy moping around the whole time. He was done with all the angry looks at them. He had enough of all the sighing and the sulking.
It was time to move on! He moved his head from one shoulder to the other and turned his shoulders around getting physically read. At the same time he was mentally getting ready by practicing what he was going to say.
It only took four large steps before he was standing in front of Yamashita. He stood in front of him. His legs wide and his hands holding his hips. He looked down at the lead singer and coughed loudly to get his attention.
Yamashita looked at him for a second before playing with his phone again.
Ryo coughed again. This time there was no reaction.
“Oi..” He said. Still no reaction.
“OI!” He said louder this time.
The man looked at him again.
“Did you not hear him or something.”
The man still looked at him and raised his eyebrows.
“He asked to practice the dance.”
“So?” Yamashita said.
“So?” Ryo copied him. “So you stand up and say: of course and then practice the dance douchebag.”
Yamashita stood up and looked at the shorter man angrily.
“Don’t fucking tell me what to do.”
“I will fucking tell you what to do.” Ryo yelled back. “You have one hell of a personality problem, fuckshit. You have been moping around here for days already. Acting like somebody killed your cat.”
Ryo pointed at their bandmates. “You have been abreacting your feelings at them, who, by the way, did not deserve that. I’ll tell you one thing. It’s fucking time to change your attitude. It’s time to step and be the leader you supposed to be, unlike shoving it to me. Because of you everyone is walking on eggs. It’s disgusting”
The rest of the guys looked at the two of them with large eyes. They couldn’t believe what Ryo just said.
Yamashita looked at him furiously. “What the hell..” He said. “Who the hell do you think you are? You are one little fucking, shitty, nitwit. Fucking bastard.”
Ryo just grinned as he looked at the guy in front of him. “You are incorrect.”
Yamashita looked at him, baffled. He did not believe this guy.
“Than what the hell are you?”
Ryo grinned even more. “A miracle..”

He looked at his boyfriend who was looking into a photo album. He was sitting on the couch lazily and comfortably. He looked absolutely gorgeous and at peace. Ryo smiled. He was one hell of a lucky guy. Suddenly the other man looked up at him and smiled.
“There you are. I was just thinking about you. I didn’t hear you coming in.”
“Tomohisa..” He whispered and walked with four big steps to the couch. He wrapped his arms around the man and kissed him passionately. The grinned at each other when they parted.
“I missed you so much.” Ryo said.
Yamashita smiled at him. “I missed you too.”
It had been a few weeks since they had last seen each other. Ryo had been very busy. Kanjani 8 had been touring through whole Japan, giving a lot of concerts. In that time they hadn’t been able to see each other. They called every, though.
They kissed each other again, this time lazily and comfortably. Ryo smiled into Yamashita’s neck.
“You said you were thinking about me?” He mentioned. He wondered what Yamapi had been thinking off. “I hope it’s something good.”
The man chuckled and nodded. “I was thinking about the beginning, you know, of NEWS.” He said.
“Aah..” Ryo said, as he remembered as well. “It’s not really worth remembering is it? You were an asshole back then.”
Pi nodded. “I know. But it is really worth remembering it.”
Ryo smiled. “Care to enlighten me.”
“Back then, I was only sulking. I was so sad that I couldn’t debut with my friends.”
“That’s understandable.” Ryo nodded.
“Yes, but you were right. I was abreacting it at you guys. And that was not fair.”
Again Ryo nodded.
“If you hadn’t reprimanded me…” He stopped and chuckled. “I would still be sulking in that little corner of the studio right now. I wouldn’t have made new friends.” Yamashita stopped again, thinking about his mates in NEWS. “I wouldn’t have seen how great you are. You wouldn’t have fallen in love with me..”
Ryo shook his head. “You still didn’t learn..” He said, chuckling. “I’m not great.. I’m…”
Yamashita stopped him with a quick kiss.
“I know.. My miracle."
