9 days of work in a row, only yesterday off and now I'm back working today-Sunday. I seriously cannot wait to sleep in tomorrow. It's going to be fabulous. It's nice to be raking in the cash, especially when a big chunk of that cash flow is coming from the BYC. I can't say enough how happy I am to be back there.
So...lots of work this week. The BYC Christmas Party was on Saturday so I spent a few days preparing for that at the club. The party itself went great. It seemed to run much smoother then last year. I think that's mainly because we got to go the Music Hall on Friday and do a big chunk of the set-up the day before. Last year we couldn't do that. And the House Committee helped out A LOT this year. Even though the DJ sucked, it was a good time. We danced the Electric Slide and ate a trifle. It's nice to know that I'm appreciated there because members keep telling me how happy they are that I'm back. Good times. On Friday night I ended up doing a private party at one of the member's house. I basically just helped her set up, made some hors d'oeurves, cleaned up and made sure that the food and drinks were replenished. It actually was a lot of fun and not only did she let me have whatever I wanted to eat or drink, but I got paid pretty well too. I hope I get to do more of those in the future.
And of course Sunday was the big day. LIZA MINNELLI!!! I had to work in Plymouth Sunday and of course I almost didn't get out of there in time. Whatever though because I still had plenty of time after I picked up John in Providence. We got to Mohegan Sun about a half hour before the concert. Our seats were AMAZING! And I think we counted maybe 4 people in the whole audience that were younger then us. Me and John had made bets as to what Liza would be wearing. He thought she would be wearing something short that showed off her legs and he was right (for the first half). And then I swore that she was going to come out in drapy pants, a long shirt with a shoulder showing and a red scarf. Oh, and a top hat. I hit the nail right on the head because she had a costume change and that's exactly what she was wearing! Let me tell you....at the age of 63, Liza Minnelli is still a living legend. The woman might have almost died a couple times, overdosed on drugs and alcohol, had a stroke and hip replacements but she can still rock out like a rock star. I was honestly amazed at how great she sounded and so excited to see her dance as well. Those she won't be doing kick lines anymore, the Fosse is still within. So many jazz hands, shoulder rolls and toe digs. It was fantastic. And she's so appreciative of her fans and band! She couldn't thank everyone enough and even let her band and piano player do a couple songs on their own. She totally rocked out to "Cabaret", "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "You've Let Yourself Go". And of course she came back for an encore singing her signature song "New York, New York." P.S. Did you know that it wasn't Frank Sinatra that originated that song? Yep, it was good ole' Liza with a Z from the movie New York, New York. She put on a incredibly memorable show for over an hour and 45 minutes and I still can't believe that I saw Liza in concert. All I have to say is god bless Broadway and the theatre. Next up on me and John's Icon Tour is Chita Rivera in April. She's coming to the PPAC. Ten points to anyone who actually knows who she is. Ha.
After the concert, Doug, Mike and Paul met up with us at the casino. We took lots of pictures, ate dinner at Michael Jordan's Sports Bar and gambled a little. And we enjoyed free cocktails in the casino. I won! Technically John won for me, but since it was my money, it was my winning. I just bought him dinner and lunch to compensate for him pulling the lever at the right time. I ended walking out $100 richer which is fine with me. I hate gambling anyways so once I saw that I had won, there was no question that I was going to waste it away (like my mother would have). Me, John, Mike and Paul had gotten a hotel in Groton for the night which was really nice. We stayed up till 4 drinking, playing Scattergories, listening to the iPods and acting like idiots. And then yesterday on the way home we had lunch in Groton and walked around Mystic Village a little. Good times.
Red Sox tickets went on sale on Saturday. I spent 3 hours in the virtual waiting room before I had to go to work. I also had 3 phones going for almost 2 hours. I never got in. But Doug did! So I'm going to a Seattle Mariners game on April 11 and a Detroit Tigers game (which I'm really excited about) on May 16th. After work I ended buying standing room only tickets for me, my mom and uncle to see the Oakland A's on May 1st. And then yesterday I scored standing room only tickets to a Minnesota Twins game on September 27th. That's FANTASTIC! 4 games in Fenway and the summer tickets haven't even gone on sale yet. Thrilling news. Oh, and the Red Sox better get Matsuzaka. Damn Scott Bor-ASS. Such a money-grubbing douchebag.
Alright, I'm out like a trout. Peace.
