so the US Album is out and available in US/Canada iTunes stores, and also in many digital stores in different countries (check your local digital stores), and I guess a lot of fans have listened to the album already.
Just wanna do a survey about the album (seems like You and Jin is sometimes checked by...)
1. Do you like this album?
2. which song/songs are ur favorite?
3. Which song/songs are ur least favorite?
4. Any suggestions for his future release?
1. I have 6 songs (including TD and SBD) out of 9 on repeat, so I think I do like this album, tho I'm not super crazy for it.
2. favs: NO.1 Aphrodisiac NO.2 Set Love Free NO.3 Like You
If California Rock and Tell Me Where have the same quality as Aphrodisiac, this album will be fantasic. I'm so addicted to Aphrodisiac.
Set Love Free was the reason why I bought this album. Already loved it when I heard it first time in his takeover vids. Sweet lovely song and it suits Jin's voice well.
The lyrics of Like You were from MJ I think. The whole song sounds nostalgic...reminds me of MJ. I think I'll cry when I hear it in the concert.
3. least favs: NO.1 Oowah NO.2 Tell me where
First Oowah is really a song of nothing...maybe it's catchy but Jin sounds like a broken machine there. I can never stand why they use auto-tune like that. Yeah it's ok to fuck up Kanye West's rap in E.T. by auto-tune cause we have Katy and Kanye's nothing in the song anyway. However to fuck up Jin's voice like that? pure stupidty...I dont need that shit.
Tell me where has the exact same problem. It could be a catchy song w/o those shitty auto-tune. Stereotypes did three songs in this album, Set Love Free is my fav but I have to say Tell me where is disappointing.
4. Composing and producing wise, Jin is new dealing with techno and dance songs, imo he's more a melody person and he has talent writing good sweet melodies. I can feel he's struglling doing California Rock and it sounds a bit like Pindom. Lyric wise, I dont see much from him in the album. I prefer his lyrics for Body Talk and The Fifth Season.
I dont like auto-tune but I'm ok with it when it's carefully done. Either go extreme like Bass Go Boom and Aphrodisiac or dont touch his voice if u must use it use it as extension of voice. Some auto-tune used in Tipsy Love, Yellow Gold and Tell Me Where is pure joke...it's like shitting randomly onto a clean carpet, just very wrong. I feel sorry for those songs cause they have potentials but they'll be thrown away like rubbish once the auto-tune mania is gone.
Above all I dont mind any direction jin's heading to, but I want high quality music. There's still long way for him to go, so I'll wait and watch.
ps. I didnt mention That's what she said is because there's not much I can say about it. It's a funny song and a pure game of words. I actually repeated it and categorized it as the same style as Ha-Ha (bitch style? XD). Too bad many take it as offense just cause it suggests BJ (even worse a forced one). Seems like the whole context of "That's what she said" joke is ignored by those angry folks. However, Jin really needs to be careful. People ARE sensitive with certain issues, any tiny mistake can be blown out of portion when it comes to those issues.
Edit: Cali Rock has grown on me, so I take back some critics about that song.
