what? pokemon?!
i'm not a hardcore fan of the series. i never memorized what evolutions any single specie has, i never memorized all of their names, and i'm not even familiar with all of them. but that doesn't mean i don't pick some of the *very cutest* among them and covet them as pets.
for example, there's togepi, who can literally charm you weak. togepi already belongs to j.o. :))
a memorable exchange between me and my friend in high school goes something like this:
me: anong pangalan niyang pokemon na iyan?
friend: jigglypuff!
me: e ano pangalan niya kapag nag-evolve na siya?
friend: wigglytuff!
me: ... niloloko mo ba ako?
appparently she was dead serious. and so were the creators of pokemon. why they name it that way is beyond me (can't expect much from people who name an evolved Seel as Dewgong).
there's jigglypuff (who has great big green eyes if it has it open.) it has this *apparently very boring* song which induces people to sleep. it uses the pentel pen it's holding as its mic, and it is hell-bent on singing. it is not aware of the effect it has - it thinks people sleep because they want to cause offense. so he writes on their faces (using that very same pentel pen). to avoid this, people run away from poor jigglypuff (i bet he has a whole LOT of self-esteem now)
no matter, at least this person was one of those who introduced jigglypuff to pop culture (on American Idol, no less!)

also in high school, it became vogue for people to tie their bangs in such a way that it sits on top of their forehead (an unfortunate hairstyle that is now relegated to shih tzus), making them look like this character:
didn't bother to research on what its abilities are - it's here purely for nostalgic purposes.
i also remember that one of the very first characters i fell in love with was a fellow named Eevee:
*higk* cuteness~!!!
it evolves into a water-eevee, a fire-eevee, etc, depending on... something. i can never bother to know what.

who becomes Dragonair (who looks more like a real water-dragon)
then Dragonite, who is not cute anymore.
(i swear if it wasn't this darn cute i would have a Dragonair tattooed somewhere)
other pocket monsters that are worthy of mention are Clefairy, Chikorita, Pichu, Jumpluff, Ponyta, and Ninetales. lest i be rendered senseless by all the cuteness, i'll stop here.
