Science Movies!

"Houston? We are venting something out into space. I can see it outside of window one right now. It's definitely a, a gas of some sort. It's gotta be the oxygen."

So I'm watching Apollo 13 instead of reading up on Bayesian probability theory. My family use to watch this together, it being a particular favorite of my mom's. We also liked October Sky and the Dish (the latter being the best science movie ever in my opinion). All three were at least based on real events, which maybe one of the reasons I like them so much.
On the other hand, my secondary tier of favorite science movies are very much not based on past facts: Contact, Jurassic Park, and The Day After Tomorrow. I guess these are more fun, thriller type movies, and less inspirational than the other three (and yes, I know The Day After Tomorrow is full of non-science; I particularly like when anything freezes. But it's just so much fun! Wolves roaming New York, burning books to hold hypothermia at bay. Query - why didn't they burn the card catalog? I've never run into a sizable library that's successfully gotten rid of its card catalog yet. They all put them out for the patrons to write call numbers down and seem to have an endless supply).
Finally, in a class by itself, is Cane Toads - An Unnatural History. This is the most bizarre and funny documentary I've ever seen. Invasive species are a serious problem, but the interviews in this movie are ridiculous on the order of Monty Python.
