Bloody grammer

I'm trying to write a paper and realizing that I cannot communicate in English. Doubtless this is not news to anyone who has ever read my writing (i.e. you), but it is quite disheartening to find that I indiscriminately and improperly use the same word as an adjective and a noun, that I use data as both plural and singular, that I cannot spot compound adjectives in the wild, and that I have no practical knowledge of participles. Also, I can't spell or properly conjugate verbs. This is all very embarrassing, but it gives me some insight in to the feelings of people who claim they are incapable of understanding math or physics. I know that if I took the trouble I could teach myself the basics, but it gives me a sinking sensation in my tummy and a feeling of inferiority. I'd much rather run and hide than learn what I ought to have known years ago.
