I hope this isn't the delirium talking (been up 23 hours), but Harry Potter 5 was fantastic.

They did an incredible job of condensing the book and keeping what was important. Sure, quite a few things weren't like the book, which was expected. But those "different" things were actually delightful and clever, in terms of story-telling.

Non-HP readers may be shocked at the darkness and dreariness of the movie. Luckily, it didn't come off as totally depressing. I thought they captured the "impending war" feeling quite well.

I don't think they left out any major plot points. ::cough:: HP3 and the connection between Lupin/Marauders/Marauders' Map::cough:: But, I am delirious. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Isn't it ironic that Book 5 was my least favorite to read, but it was probably the movie I like the most, by far? At least, I hope that is the case after a second viewing.

It was agonizing having to wait for the movie all day. At least I didn't have to go it alone (yay Justin!) We got in line 2 hours before the midnight showing, and there were already 100+ people there. By 11pm, the theater was packed. It was totally worth it. I know the wait for the final book will drive me insane. Justin promised to wait with me for the midnight release, but I think it requires me supplying him alcohol for the entire evening.

Oh, in a few hours, I have to wake up and run to Northeastern University to drop off my grad school application. Growing up sucks.
