Half way through season 4 of Once Upon a Time and still loving it! I love how they tied in the themes of isolation and family. Anna is AMAZING, she's the shining star of this season, she's so spot on.
Once Upon a Time is just so well written. Yes, the acting varies by actor... dramatically... lol... but really...
The villains motivations are carefully thought out and unique ~
Regina = revenge (for her lover's death) / a happy ending
Mr. Gold = reuniting with his son
Cora = wealth / to be royalty
those forgettable villains / Pan's lackeys = destroying magic (keeping out what's different)
Pan = eternal youth
Wicked Witch = jealousy
Snow Queen = wants a family
What is it... wealth, eternal youth, visions of the future? (referring to Indiana Jones here XD)
I love how strong the women are. The female characters are AMAZING, they're all strong but never come off as sex symbols or manly. I love how they made Rapunzel and Merylin POC. (Otherwise, they wouldn't have like any POC characters. But I wish they could work in some of the other POC Disney characters, like Lilo and Pocahontas and Tiana... but they aren't from fantasy worlds so I can see why it's hard.)
And I think the way they weaved Bell into the story, giving her character development and backstory that ties into the Frozen universe is clever and well written. I'm always impressed each season how they somehow have more and more backstory that weaves into the main story, even when you know it can't be planned, it all fits together like pieces of a puzzle.
I think the only thing that makes me sad is that more people don't watch this show. The only people I know who like it are... my best friend's dad... and my work best friend's aunt... -laugh- ...one of my tumblr friends...and a few of you here on my flist.
