Yesterday, I decided edit a MARC record for one of the books here. I have been taking cataloging this semester and little by little the codes are starting to make sense. My supervisor asked me to try to add a subject heading or just leave it to the cataloger. Using my notes, I successfully added a new subject heading to the catalog record. You would think cataloging is pretty straight forward, but in order for there to be a universal catalog across multiple languages, there are many symbols and codes used akin to computer programming.

While I'm no Giles yet, I feel that my classes are gradually making me a more awesome future librarian. Yay.
