So I got into another, uh, shall we say, "dispute" with my boss yesterday. Well, not really my boss, since he doesn't really have any real power to fire me or anything. More like my superior. And even then he's not exactly stellar at it. This is not the first time, and given that my job involves much of the heavy lifting, it's not something I have much patience for these days. >_>
Anyway, on the ride home, there was a very interesting article that made me laugh mainly because if its timing. Thought I'd share it now for future posterity.

Shhh... I'm Quitting
Julia Phipps

If a work colleague is starting to talk less, take longer lunch breaks, changing their dress code or attitude in the office, then they're probably about to quit their job.
Recruitment firm Robert Half has warned employers that they should be on the look-out for "exit signs" if they wanted to keep valued staff.
Director Nicole Gorton said that employees exhibited five tell-tale signs that they were about to jump ship, providing employers with a chance to offer incentives for staff to stay or otherwise start looking for a replacement.
"A normally outgoing employee becomes quieter and more self-contained, or a normally quiet employee becomes more assertive and loud." Gorton said.
"Both of these changes can mean someone no longer cares what management thinks, which should alert you to a problem."
A worker who's feeling out other opportunities wants to keep their head down so they're less communicative, according to Gorton.
And someone taking longer lunch breaks or time off work indicates someone is talking to prospective employers.
"More personal phone calls - this is another sign interviews are scheduled or job offers are being made." she said.
"If an employee is consistently walking out of the room when taking mobile phone calls, start getting suspicious."
An upgraded to the work wardrobe could also mean employees are popping out to a job interview, Gorton said.
Heh, would explain why it tends to be fairly quiet on our side of the floor. I'd like to think things will get better, but it constantly seems to be one disappointment after another. -_-

I've also suddenly gotten a strong urge to travel a bit more. Especially after I caught up with a mate I haven't talked to since high school and found out that he's been working in New York for the last year.
Man, seems like all my friends have been travelling to all sorts of interesting place. I feel behind on the times now. :B
