Ham Door

Pants. I seem to have used up my download limit for the month from watching too many videos on GameTrailers.com. *nerd* Eh, it's better than a lot of the crap on TV at least.

Oh yeah, and I finally got around to watching that Transformers movie DVD that a mate of mine lent me. Nice film too, which was a bit more than I was expecting. :o Though I thought it could have done without that whole adolescent awkwardness love story thingamijig that seemed tagged on. Y'know, I really hate it when action movies do that. They send the message that, if you're a loser kid in high school with zero amount of chance of getting the hot girl of your dreams, all you gotta do is get yourself and her involved in a war where the fate of the planet lies in the balance. Simple. o_o d
Speaking of the characters though, it did seem like a lot of the backstory to all of them were a little under developed. As if the whole movie was just a prologue to something much bigger, y'know? But meh, the story is not why people watch Transformers for. People watch Transformers for the giant robots duking it out in open combat, and for that there was plenty of. Optimus Prime shoving that blade into Bonecrusher's face; OH YOU DO NOT GET MUCH MORE OWNED THAN THAT. And those holographic pilots in the Decepticon aircraft - just awesome.
Was surprising to see a number of familiar-yet-not-totally-famous faces in the movie, too. Folks like Glenn Morshower and Michael O'Neill. And I totally would not have picked Hugo Weaving as the voice for Megatron. o_O

And that's another thing - I never realised there was such a noticeable difference between American and Australian accents. Watching that film with that Aussie chick, and watching those videos on GT.com where they were interviewing the guys who came up with Team Fortress (whom I believe hail from NSW), the difference between the way they speak, and the way others speak was not as subtle as I thought it'd be. ._.
Now, I'd always known that there was a difference, but I figured that was because there was the difference between people who exaggerated their speech. Y'know, like the difference between John "And That's What That's All About" Maddern and Steve "Croc Hugger" Irwin. So it surprises me that there'd be such a difference between people who speak relatively "normally." Hurray for contrast! \o/
