The other day I ended up spending an hour trying to get a $30 optical mouse to replace the one that was playing up. Good ol' CPL. Went to the store that's literally 5 minutes away from the office and asked for one of those Microsoft Intellimouse Opticals. Why Microsoft has any business making hardware is beyond me, but that's another can of beans.
The way CPL works is that they first take your order (and your money), and then someone disappears into a back room for 20 minutes to try and find what you're after, whether it's a simple periferal, or a complete new system. So I wait, and wait, and wait, and mentally undress a Wacom Tablet box, and wait some more. (What? Like there's ever any hot chicks that hang around in computer shops. >_>) So the guy comes back with my mouse and I happily leave at long last. ...Only to discover as I'm half way down the street that they've given me the wrong mouse. Truth be told, I was kind of tempted to leave it at that after being put on hold for so long. Anyway, back I go to wait in line to give the mouse back to wait until they get it from the back room again. And wait, and wait, and wait, and... never mind.
So yeah, most exciting way to spend a lunch break. At least CPL is cheap though. Cheaper than any other place that I know of, that's for sure. Always busy, and always have a bargain.

Walked past a guy in the street with a mohawk that day, too. And I couldn't help but think just how much his head reminded me of a taxi cab. Y'know how in New York, they have those yellow taxis with the triangular prisms of advertising goodness on their roofs? The ones where if you look from the front, it's looks like it's a small triangle, but when viewed from side on, it looks like a large oblong? That's kinda what this guy's head remined me of. From the front, it's just a small triangle, but when he turned his head to the side, it encompassed the entire circumference of his head. Well, the circumference where hair usually grows at any rate.
Who knows, maybe if you had that hair style, bleached it and then painted your face yellow, you'd start the new fashion craze of the 21st century! ...Or perhaps that style is still a little ahead of our time.

A mate at work lent me his Nintendo DS for the weekend. Oh. My. God. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is such a godly game. *_* I have to be honest, it's one of those that, when you hear about it's premise of being a lawyer, you think it'll be boring and simple. But once you start playing it you get sucked right into it. O_O
It's just so well crafted together, especially for a game that has fairly little gameplay, relatively speaking. All the little nuance and idiosyncrasies that they put in there of each character, the way the the cases sort of link to each other, the way the chapters are divided up so that you never feel like it drags on... Oh man. That's how games should be. *___* I ended up spending almost 10 hours straight today working my way through that last case from start to end today. So should have taken a break, but it was so worth it.
Now I'm seriously tempted to buy my own DS with the new Phoenix Wright games. _>
