The other day I was walking back to the office from Melbourne Central after lunch. Waiting for the pedestrian lights to change, I noticed this goth girl standing to my left. Her hair was dyed a bright flamingo pink, and she was wearing an unhealthy amount of black for such a hot day. She didn't seem to have a lot of make up on, and had these shiny black high heeled slippers with little skull and cross bones on the backs of them.
I've long accepted that some people just chose to live like that, as unusual as it is, but staring at those shoes, it suddenly made me wonder where goths buy their clothing from. You don't just walk into a Target and go down the back to their goth section. I also don't particularly remember taking a stroll down the street and seeing any boutiques that specialise in that kind of gear either.
If you look hard enough, there's a whole other world out there somewhere.
I've been playing a bit of SimCity 4 again, and it's really sapped away my free time. There's something about that game, the feeling of creativity and achievment, that's really addictive about it. I know no one else cares, but I've managed to get my city to a residential population of almost 200,000 with education at 200, life expectancy at 90, a mayor rating of about 95, a monthly profit of §5,000, and there are more people taking the subway than there are people who drive their cars. How many of you losers can say you've done that, huh? >:3
