Native American art is simply more than art on a canvas, pretty much anything associated with their culture has an art reference. From their music to their clothing to the things which store their supplies, all these have a means of saying who they are and where they come from. Rituals in which music is played and dancing performances are made are not only a musical outlet but a sense of community. Some of these rituals or dances come in the form of dreams that are taught to an ensemble and are further expressed as a privilege within a community’s collective repertory. Therefore it is sacred to that tribe and neighbors as individuals outside of that should not be allowed to perform such dances. Some tribes use these rituals as a type of initiation for the young men in their community, as a way to attain apprenticeship. The clothing of each individual tribe is more than just style pertaining to individuals, but also identity in the way it is worn and adorned on the body. I would say that almost every object carried or made for practical use is beautiful in the sense that it is crafted with high detail and high purpose. It is about extravagance and ranking, more than it is clothing. Different tribes have different outfits for personnel among their communities. I found it rather adorable that the children wear similar outfits to those of the adults because that also shows their sense of belonging within their people.
