(I love you. I really wanted to write a Maotsujun drabble. *huggles* I hope you enjoy, I had a difficult time choosing which drabble plot idea I had in mind for you. 1012 word count, so I had to split it in two.)

“You’re doing it wrong.”

“How can I cut shitake mushrooms wrong!”

Matsumoto Jun was looking over Inoue Mao’s shoulder in mild interest, a manga book in his other hand. He was standing a little too close behind her as she prepared a dish- if he wanted he could rest his chin on her shoulder- but Mao didn’t mind. Mao and Jun had been very good friends since the end of filming Hana Yori Dango season 1, and physical closeness wasn’t a discomfort as much as it was an extended form of talking for them. They both didn’t know why there relationship was this way-neither of them shared this physical bond with anyone else- but they took comfort in it. Poking wars had ensued during their filming of Hana Yori Dango season 2, and it was hardly a big deal to be sharing the same couch and sleeping on one another during breaks when they filmed the drama’s movie.

“I don’t know, but you managed to,” Jun said, taking the opportunity of Mao’s open shoulder to place his chin on it. “You’re supposed to separate the stems from the caps, not cut them right down the middle.”

“Hey, it’s my secret recipe.” Mao said, defensively.

“You mean Shun’s. He lent you the recipe book, remember?”

Mao nudged him in the ribs playfully and he jumped when her elbow came in contact with that particularly ticklish spot. “He did, but I’m not using it,” Mao said with a smirk at his amusing reaction, “I’m making this up as I go, using my chef instincts to cook the best soba you’ve ever tasted.”

“Chef instincts? You? Somehow, I feel like this is going to be a disaster,” he said snidely. Jun retaliated to her nudge by poking her back in the waist and she yelped. Mao was about to turn around and poke him twice as hard as he poked her, but he had already walked quickly away from Mao and to his living room, out of her reach.

“It’s not over, Jun!” Mao called after him, “You’re lucky I’m cooking or I’d run after you!”

She heard Jun laugh.

I’ll get you back, just watch. Mao thought with a mischievous smile.
