Tammy may kill me because I'm posting this part before I send it to her for a proper beta, but I just want to do some shameless self plug before I post the complete thing (because a part of me thinks I've been forgotten in Livejournal *sad face*). Honestly, I'm falling in love with this fic I'm writing and I kinda-sorta don't want it to end just yet. haha
Besides, I'm completely revamping it anyway because I realized I'm only like half way done without edits and the fic is already 20 pages! I need to do some serious chopping of scenes and wrap it up nicer so it flows like a fic and not some crack-ish drama. x_x haha ANYWAY. Without further ado... I present to you the prologue/prequel/intro of my newest fic.
Title: untitled
Author:
yoshi09 Pairing: Inoue Mao / Ohno Satoshi
Rating: R
Summary: err, the portion of this fic I'm posting is pretty much a summary of the fic. *cough*
“A new place to live, huh?”
"Mm." Ohno Satoshi nodded in confirmation. He was seated between Ninomiya Kazunari and Aiba Masaki in a backroom of where they were currently shooting the music video for “To Be Free.” The behind the scenes camera had left them alone in favor of filming Sakurai Sho and Matsumoto Jun in the studio, to which Ohno had taken the opportunity to raise his most recent ambition. Nino had his arms crossed as he watched the monitor that displayed Jun nodding in understanding as he listened to instructions someone off camera gave him.
“I think Sho-chan would know more about those things.” Aiba continued, momentarily drawing his attention away from the TV monitor to answer his band mate. “What do you think Nino?”
Nino looked across his shoulder and to Ohno. “Sho would know,” then as an afterthought he added, “Why do you want to move out anyway?”
-
“My mom said I should try something new.” Ohno replied to Sho, in between random still shots some crew members were taking of them.
“But moving out?” Sho asked with raised eyebrows. Random camera flashes popped around them. Nino held up a casual peace sign. “I don’t think your mom meant move out. Does she even know? Living alone isn’t as easy as it looks.”
Ohno nodded. “Mm. She told me if that’s what I decided… then I should find a roommate.”
Sho visibly relaxed. “Well a roommate is good.” A crew member turned a camera to them and Ohno did a silly face while Sho automatically smiled, the camera flashed and then turned elsewhere, Sho continued on, “Where do you think you’re going to live?”
“Somewhere not too far from home... Do you know anyone looking for a roommate?”
-
“Hm. I think Mao's looking for a roommate still." Jun's hands were on his hips as he looked forward in thought and a hairdresser fixed his bangs. Two more hours and they'd be done shooting "To be free."
"Eh?" Ohno eyes widened, "Inoue Mao-chan?"
They had gone through a short list of people Jun knew was searching for a flatmate after Sho had directed Ohno to the youngest member's direction. Jun nodded. "Yeah. She had been looking for awhile. It's hard, you know, because she's an actress and so she can't advertise her roommate search except by word of mouth since she might get stalkers or weird reporters trying to live with her." Someone called out, "This will be the actual shooting! Everyone this is the real shooting!" and people started taking their respective positions. Jun continued casually, "I hadn't heard from her recently about finding a roommate but I think you should give her a call."
"B-but," Ohno began a bit perplexed.
"Oh-chan, we're about to start!" the director called.
Ohno moved away from Jun and to his position as he finished his thought, "Isn't Mao a girl?"
-
"So?" Nino unbuttoned his dress shirt then pulled off the white shirt he wore, "Doesn't that make it better?-- it's so coooold."
Ohno buttoned his jeans and began buckling his belt. "But a guy and a girl living together... that only happens with family and people who are in a relationship." The thought alone brought a light blush to his cheeks.
"Mostly." He pulled his own shirt over his head, replacing his "To be Free" wardrobe. "But don't worry about it-- it's Mao-chan. You guys are friends anyway."
"Mm..." Ohno nodded thoughtfully. "But we're not very close."
Nino stuffed his feet into his shoes. "Then you won't get on each other's nerves that much-- and she pretty much works in the same industry as us so if it does get weird it's not like you will see her all the time anyway. Besides, her apartment is close to your home, work, and Jun's house. Pretty perfect."
Ohno didn't look entirely convinced, then again it was hard to read Ohno's face sometimes.
"Oh-chan, she's a cool girl, a great drinking buddy and she could put up with your spacey-ness. Plus, everyone in Arashi likes her, our friends like her," He crossed his arms, and gave him a pointed look, "you like her. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she hadn't already found a flatmate during this conversation. Do you need her number?"
~
Inoue Mao rubbed her eyes wearily as she closed her apartment door after her. The tinkling of her keys must've caught her boston terrier's attention because it bounded out of her room to come to a skidding stop at her heels. Mao giggled in amusement and leaned forward to give her small dog an affectionate pat on the head before she turned to lock the door then take her shoes off.
"Hey Hug-chan," she said with a smile. "How was your day?"
She pulled off her jacket and hung it on a hook near her door as she continued her one-sided conversation, "That's good to hear. I'm glad you got relaxation in." Mao headed to the kitchen, Hug-chan scampering just behind her feet, "My day?" She looked down at Hug-chan who wagged her tail eagerly. "It was really long."
Mao placed her purse and a bag of groceries her manager had gone out to buy for her onto the counter-- she was getting popular enough that it sometimes made the simple task of grocery shopping a hassle. Hug-chan whined.
"I'm okay. Being with you makes me feel better." She poured herself a glass of water and then pulled out her phone. Mao hadn't expected any calls, but it was a habit she developed after getting more involved in the acting industry. The front screen glowed a bright blue indicating she missed a call. She looked at her dog in accusation, "You didn't call me, did you?" Hug-chan barked and Mao smiled. "I didn't think so." She flipped her phone open and squinted at the unfamiliar number before pressing "OK." A new screen popped up: "New Voicemail."
When Mao put the phone to her ear she didn't have any expectations for who might be sending her a message-- but the stumbling, slightly slurred voice of Ohno Satoshi would have been the last of her assumptions.
"Ah, Kazu-- she didn't pick up. (What! You're calling her now?) Yes. It went to voicemail. (I didn't think you'd call her now! I was just giving you her number.) I think I should leave a message. (You didn't hang up yet?) No. Ah, um. Mao-chan? This is Ohno Satoshi from Arashi. (Oh-chan, she definitely knows who you are.) Jun-kun told me you were looking for a roommate? Um, flatmate? I wanted to know if you were still looking? Um. Call me back please. (That's it?--)" BEEP.
A/N: Interested in the rest of the fic? I hope so. x_x I was writing this fic for myself so it's probably... kinda weird, but I'll be updating a finished version sometime after finals are over, available only to the "Satoshi/Mao" group I've got filtered in my entries. If you'd like to read it please let me know. ^_^
