Tammy had requested, some time ago, for an Ohmiya from me. These aren't them (I have something else for that), but these are two drabbles I had come up with during the writing process of the main one. I'm not going to use these anymore because they don't fit into the story. Anyway, here's the Ohmiya that I write that novemberbaby86 seems to like quite muchly. Here we go:
Nino had a small secret- he found it during the first few days of rehearsal for Arashi Around Asia in 2008. It wasn’t so much as a secret as a walkway for backstage technicians up and over the stage for quick access to a few cameras mounted outside. It was literally, just a few seconds climb and four steps walk away from Arashi’s main dressing room. Nino never told his fellow members about this place, and no one knew he would visit this area except the people who worked the cameras. It was the best seats, in Nino’s scenic-director opinion, that Kokuritsu could offer.
He was there now, (despite it being only ten minutes before his own rehearsal,) leaning casually over the railing, bill of his hat pulled low over his forehead, and looking very much like an ordinary cameraman surveying the area. The real techies let him be, pretending not to see him, but sometimes smiling at his back as they plugged in a wire here, readjusted a lens there… he almost always came up to the camera platform, at around the same time, every rehearsal, leaning over the same place.
Everyone knew why, just no one talked about it.
It wasn’t until a little while later that someone acknowledged his presence and tapped him gently on the shoulder. Nino turned his chin leisurely in his manager’s direction, indicating he was half-listening to what he would say, as his eyes never left the stage.
“Nino-kun, you’re on stage in two minutes.”
“Hm? Oh. Yeah. I’ll be right there.” He watched Ohno dance for a few more seconds right before his last chorus, then he turned around and walked down the steps-later, he would tell Ohno how well he did in rehearsal again, and Ohno would look surprised and ask him where he could see him from backstage. As he thought about this, Nino scratched his nose with his knuckle to hide his small smile.
(Drabble #2)
The sunrise was glaringly bright when Nino was woken up by a phone call. The way he answered the phone reflected his appreciation of this fact.
“What?” He was lying on his stomach, blanket covering everything but his mouth, half of which was muffled atop the pillow.
The words from the small speaker pressed against his ear were happy, loud, wide-awake, “Kazu! I love you!”
Nino squinted his eyes against the harsh sunlight. “Oh-chan.” He said, rolling over to read the time on his alarm clock, “It’s 4:30.”
The voice on the other line was nonplussed, “Ah, sou?” Nino could hear the club music in the background. He was sobered by the realization.
“Are you at Morning Flash again?”
“Yes!” Ohno. Drunk. Lost track of time again.
“Do you know we have Himitsu no Arashi-chan filming at 10?”
“Yes!”
Nino could imagine Ohno buying a round of drinks for everyone at the bar- he was the type.
“Kazu,” Ohno repeated, seriously, “I love you.”
Nino pulled off his blanket, slid out of his bed, “Do you need me to come get you?” he said into the phone.
“No, no. I’m okay. But, did you hear me?”
Nino tugged his shirt off and grabbed a random shirt from the closet. He put his right arm through a sleeve while still holding the phone. “Yeah, I hear you.” He put his other arm through, slipped the rest of the shirt on.
“Does Kazu love me too?” Ohno asked.
Nino realized the shirt was on backward and pulled his arms back to his body so he can twist it around without taking it off; he held the phone between his cheek and shoulder.
“Yes, yes. Stay where you are, I’m coming to get you now. Bye.” He flipped his phone shut and grabbed his car keys and license before he walked out the door.
---
Nino was trying to take a nap. He cancelled his lunch date with his girlfriend, Masami Nagasawa, because he was so exhausted. Though Himitsu no Arashi-chan filming ended earlier today he didn’t want to take advantage of it. He curled himself into a slight “C” curve and faced away from the windows, even though the blinds were flipped closed. He felt too hot.
“Too close.” He whined sleepily to the figure behind him.
He could feel Ohno’s breath on the back of his neck when Ohno replied, groggily, “But I’m cold.”
“You didn’t have to come over today. I told you I was just napping.” Nino was irritable when he needed sleep.
“I wanted to sleep too.”
“It’s your fault we’re tired. You were at Morning Flash.”
Ohno didn’t say anything at first, and then he said, “Un. It was my fault.”
Nino sighed. He shifted so he faced his bandmate and lifted the blanket to cover both of them. He didn’t even realize that already, the gap was closed between them, Ohno’s arm slung over his waist, Nino cuddled beneath Ohno’s chin. It wouldn’t take a genius to understand this wasn’t the first time the two napped together.
It was too hot still, but Nino fell asleep almost instantly anyway.
