I wanted to blog more about life... but here comes Comic-Con...

Jul 27, 2009 10:30

So, every year I go to Comic-Con International, I volunteer. Every year I volunteer I say I won't do it the next year because it's so painful and terrible. This year though, I became a CCI Staff Member:

And it was so. Much. More. Fun.

The staff was much more laid back, friendly, inviting, and personal. Plus, the experience of working registering people into the Art Show and just talking/answering questions was really nice. I'm definitely doing it again next year.

I wish I could show everyone pictures of the awesome people I worked with, but all I had was my cell phone as a camera (as per usual) and I only took this picture of my fellow staff member Luke/Akira and another staff member (Kathleen)'s daughter, Kaitlyn. She was so cute and cherubic! (She had these super beautiful grey-blue eyes that were more grey than blue, but the blue made the grey stand out more.) Seriousssllly~

Kaitlyn is telling Luke to make a plane out of candy. But she kept adding more candy and Luke was telling her that the plane might crash because of it. *laughs*

Anyway!! Back to the Con stuff. I only have pictures from the last day and Saturday because my friend, Anthony, has a camera and actually uses it. So I'm stealing a lot of pictures from him. Here we go:

Oh. Yes.

Comic-Con this year was more packed than any year previous, I'd say:

^This was barely a testimony on how packed it felt. Trust me.

So, let's start with Saturday. That's the first day I decided to start taking pictures... quite possibly because my awesome friends,
holy_pancake and her sister, dress up every year and they're ADORABLE. See? ~

The fireflower and 1up are both mine that I let them borrow as props at the Con. I really should take a picture of my room so you guys see how Nintendo-oriented and colorful it is. <3 hahaha... (this is the only other picture I have of a staff member- he's in the back holding up his jacket as to protect the art from photography. Ignore all you see left of Luigi *laughs*).

While working one of the staff had this beautiful plushie/backpack:

Anyone else jealous? *cries*

Now... back to good quality pictures! ^_^

So, my friends, Tony (left) and Anthony (right) meet up first because I'm working upstairs, and Tony was about to get off his volunteer shift:

Here's their little adventures:

V for Vendetta! And the gargoyle guy next to him! 0.o

And more awesome costumed people for Starwars to Futurama... (I'm getting lazy with captions. x_x):

(supposedly, this guy was posing all nice with peoplem but when Anthony came up, he throttled him. LOL!)

Anthony doesn't know who this is and said he took a picture because he looked famous. He was right:

Adam. Baldwin.

Bumbleebee!

And his car form!

This car was actually used in the filming of Tranformers. <3 I love Comic-Con.

They decide to come visit me at the Art Show now, and run into holy_pancake and her sis (I'd put their names, but they're both name sensitive when it comes to online things so...) on the way up. They both happened to be waiting for me to get off work. Awww~ :

I met up with them, we all talked about plans later and then we went our separate ways. I finally got the opportunity to check out the exhibition hall like I've been meaning too!

Jyaaan~! Anthony, me, and Tony!

I'm on the phone with holy_pancake. I don't pose for pictures like that normally. x_x

I asked Tony to give me freebies (what Comic-Con is infamous for doing. And doing well. O_O). And he gave me a fox tail tie! Haha... I took off my sweater and looked like a school girl for a few hours:

After looking around and deciding what to spend our paychecks on, we were all starving so we went to a place called The Tin Fish which is located across from the convention center. They always up the food prices when Comic-Con rolls around. x_x Their yummy fish and chips went from 6:95 to 12:95. *sighs* But it was so good! While we waited, they took pictures with me, saying I looked like a little schoolgirl from an anime:

Har har, guys. Har har...

So I took a picture of them to retaliate. 0.o

Anyway. holy_pancake comes by to get food stuffs. We're all together now! <3 holy_pancake slaps Tony with her glove:

And a picture of holy_pancake stuffing herself, and me after I finished stuffing myself:

Afterward, we head up to the Masquerade Ballroom. It's basically like a fashion show of costumes fans worked on for the past year since the last Comic Con. I'd post pictures, but Anthony (as were all of us) were too busy clapping, cheering, and watching the Masquerade to remember the camera. Anyway, here's us going up the escalator~

And thus... ends Saturday at Comic-Con. I'm lazy now, so the pictures from Sunday are going to be uncaptioned unless necessary. ^_^

(^Creeeepppyyy... I never played Silent Hill or watched the movie, but they gave me chills. Tony told the girl on his right, "No offense, but I had nightmares about you.")

I confess. I told them to do this. <3 <3

The. end. *sniffles*

Side notes and such:
I'm sorry, warriorkitana, that we missed each other and couldn't meet! x_x Another time, yeah?
I was so upset when I missed Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Really! I didn't read the Comic-Con program as thoroughly as I should have. I was even more upset when I was work at my real job on Friday and was missing out on Hayao Miyazaki! *cries* I'm still bitter Sho went to NYC Comic-Con and not ours. Ours is International, damn it!!! It's bigger than their's! x_x
I spent almost $200 worth of stuffs which is a big deal to me because I'm not a big spender! People were really nice and gave discounts everywhere on Sunday. I somehow managed to bargain $55 to turn into $15. 0.o

I shall edit this post if I remember something. PHEW.
