I had my first content mentor observation today, second observation overall. 2/9 technically.
The lesson was planned really well, using this really cool Power Point presentation that I made, along with a notes page for each student.
Overall it went really well, my mentor did not have many things to say that needed improvement, and considering I've only been doing this for five weeks and this was her first visit, I find that to be very promising.
I wasn't nervous, but I was a little stumbly with words and phrases, but I think that everyone has those kinds of days. I mean, look at Will Smith at the Oscars, that was live television for crying out loud.
The best about today's observation though, was the fact that for the most part, my kids were perfectly behaved. The group that I'm working with now isn't usually too bad, but the normal chatty girls were quiet today and paid attention, which is a nice sentiment for me because it shows that my class at least likes me a little, and didn't want to screw around with my observation today.
Besides my student teaching stuff, I really don't have a lot on my plate, which is really good. It's funny because this semester should be toughest, most annoying out of all of the college semesters, but I find myself with so much free time. It's because I can get my prep work done at school, but it's still amusing how much harder I had to work when I lived at MSU and went to normal, take notes and tests classes.
It's part of growing up I suppose.
I'm also really happy with my decision to switch from Premium Neopets to Netflix. In the last like, three weeks, I have watched so many awesome and acclaimed movies. The joy of being able to watch a new release without having to spend the 20 dollars on the DVD.
I've also noticed that weeks seem to go by much quicker. I attribute it to the fact that I am having a good time in Tenafly, which bodes well for my future career. Not that I'm complaining, the faster we get to the weekend each week, the happier and less lonely I am.
