It's not like I'm going out to find him. I just set out in the same direction, that's all.
Monkey D. Luffy sat quietly on the small boat, looking back on the island he was leaving behind. Ten years ago he was standing on that pier, watching Shanks' ship leave. Ten years ago he was the one there, waving, laughing, crying.
"I won't miss you." He had told Shanks.
"Of course you'll miss me, little anchor."
"No, I won't! I'll work hard and become the Pirate King and I won't ever miss you, even for one second, Shanks!!"
No, he hadn't missed him. Sure, Makino's inn was quieter, and sure, he and his brother had more free time, but he completely, absolutely did not miss Shanks.
And he wasn't going to look for him. He wasn't trying to find him. Wasn't hoping they would meet again by chance.
Because, really, who would want to see that obnoxious man again so soon?
I'm not looking for him...
And this, in itself, was the biggest lie of all.
