Depends what you define as "the world". Civilization will probably be gone before that. I mean, you know somebody's gonna fuck up somewhere along the way. As for the physical earth, I don't see how it would be destroyed by anything other than the sun.

What do you mean by "someone" fucking up along the way. Hitler sure as hell fucked up, and pulled off some big and terrible shit, but he didnt end the world. A large stellar body will destroy Earth (actually destroy Earth; blow it to smitherings) like a meteor or asteroid.

The chances of that are way too slim. And even if we discover one heading for us, we have ways of knocking it off course being developed right now. By the time that becomes a threat, we'll be able to stop it.

I watched some show on the Discovery Channel a few weeks ago, and they were talking about how the next thing that could hit us won't get here for at least 150 more years. And then they talked about how they would launch a nuclear bomb up into space and blast it along the side of the meteor or comet or whatever so that it knocks it off course.
