Wednesday
Akbar's was very yummy. Chris greatly admired the authentic curries, yay. a really lovely evening. when we got home we had some nanaimo bar, and watched (his choice) Atonement. stayed up talking for a bit, then bed.
Thursday
not much during the day, except a gradual build up to Cell Block's Prison Break at night. Ngaio wanted us to be in town at Nag's for 8(?!), which we thought was a bit ridiculous, but there you are. it was still light out! anyway, the t-shirts were delivered. not the most flattering of things, they were all mens' sizes, so most were too big for the women. on top of that, your name (on the left) and room number (on the right) were stretched right across your breasts. not helpful, haha. the back, in green, says "Goodricke Cell Block 2008/2009", underneath "last of the c-blockers..." which was quite a nice touch, actually. we're a very proud block. i was really frustrated with how it looked though, so i decided to hack it up. not slut it up, mind, just make it more fitted and nice. capped the sleeves, then cut slits to tie a string through with a bow. cut a few inches off the lower hem, and strategic holes in the back. was able to wind some fabric through the holes and make a nice small corset look, which enabled me to tighten it a bit. much better! i was very proud.
went to Nag's, then Reflex, then the Parish and the Lowther. not a bad trail, i suppose, except for Reflex - good god! but i wasn't up for it. Dutchie, Vicki, Anna and Anthony weren't due till later, so it was just me, Lee, and Chris. Jack was out, but had his chavvy scum mate Jamie up for the weekend (staying till Tuesday, ugh, i swear he's vomited more around the block than anyone else in the corridor so far) so he was well pissed. i couldn't get drunk because i had two seminars the next day, but i did drink a bit. you can't go to Gallery and not drink.
at Parish, i tripped down the steel stairs. ack. not because i was drunk, i just bumped into Ngaio, who'd stopped suddenly. bruised all up one shin, and the ankle, and the knee of the other leg. aaah. Lowther was alright, the usual. finally found Dutchie, which was nice. C Block does not house the most classy and sober of students, which was getting to me. there's only so much drunken stupidity i can take without being stupidly drunk myself.
made it into Gallery, where i immediately downed two shots, then went dancing. had a good time, but it was getting hotter and hotter so Ellen and i went for some water. when i returned, it was too crowded to move. 100+ C-Blockers, plus all other students, plus locals - was way too much for Gallery to handle. you couldn't dance, cos you were always getting shoved to the side by someone else. you spent more time defending your own little space than you did enjoying the music. also, because drunken morons insist on bringing fruity drinks to the floor, there was spilled, sticky alcohol everywhere. i had my black flats on, and every time i tried to move my foot - to dance, to move, to whatever - my shoe got left behind. utterly unenjoyable. went to sit with Chris awhile, who was enjoying himself even less than me. decided that when a good song came on, i'd go try again. i was sitting 20mins before i realized that no good song had come on. time to leave! snuck out with Chris and Lee, stopped by PFC for some cheesy chips, then the long walk home. what a night.
Friday
seminars, ack. instead of doing Jailbreak, most C-Blockers decided to opt out and nurse their hangovers. (not Jack and friends, as evidenced the next morning.) Chris and i gathered some pick-a-mix sweets and rented a movie out from the library. bumped into Arthur and Hannah, who were having a quiet night as well. the four of us were supposed to have a bbq together, until Hannah realized she had no food, haha. we rented It Happened One Night and Rain Man, but only watched the latter. gah, what a killer! i was gutted, but enjoyed it. kept thinking of our family friends and their two autistic sons. we lay in bed talking again, for awhile. i love that, with only the light coming from the lake/moon/window. it's going to be hard learning how to fall asleep on my own again.
