i attempted nanaimo bars. they look nothing like how they should. they will taste good, yes, but not quite like nanaimo bars should. i've asked Mom to send some graham crumbs over with Dad, haha, so i can show these Brits how real "puddings" are done. nonetheless, i'll serve up the nanaimo bars after Akbar's tonight.
i also, yesterday, found a wicked Father's Day card. i went to the fail-proof Waterstone's for Chris's gifts. also got a fantastic bookmark too. you know my "how to be happy" coaster from Dutchie? well the artist, Edward Monkton, has lots for sale in the UK. i found a great "
Penguin of Death" bookmark, yay. Chris has lots of in-jokes about penguins and other birds, so it works.
and, most happily, i had my hair cut:
not too snazzy, but it'll do. it frustrates me how it's never as good the day after the hairdresser's done it, you know? you still have to fiddle with it and sort new things out, haha. but overall, definitely pleased. it's a lot lighter, more summery.
tonight i'm wearing that white-with-navy-and-brown-flowers dress to dinner. i've borrowed a cardigan off Anna, and am wearing tights, so hopefully that'll keep me warm enough in the cool York evening air.
aaand, i've forgotten my laundry.
