seven

after a long weekend i had a fairly relaxed Monday. lecture was interesting, but the professor's voice is dead monotonous, ack. still, historiography (ie. Issues in Historical Thought) is turning out to be intriguing. that's not to say i'm keen on the reading or anything, but some of the debates and questions raised are truly thought-provoking. it's almost a relief not to have to worry about the details and dates and people, and focus on the theories and practices.
around half-six, Chris and i went into town for dinner. on the one hand, it was because he felt like he neglected me last week with all the American football, and on the other, it was because yesterday was our seven month anniversary. seven months is perhaps a weird thing to be celebrating so enthusiastically, but the fact of the matter is - we have a limited number of anniversaries left to celebrate while we're on the same continent. in fact, i only count one. so we've decided to make every one (and every day in between) special. we ate delicious Thai food at Evil Eye. i had a noodle bowl with tasty tasty ingredients which i can't remember exactly now. oh my gods though, so yummy. we had a lovely time just chatting away. i didn't dress up too fancy just in a colourful plaid top from New Look, some capris and heels. casual, yet still nice. instead of dessert we each ordered traditionally awesome cocktails. i got my Heaven again, and Chris ordered some Evil Sunrise. mmm, sugar. he was feeling a bit queasy though and i could tell he wanted to go back so we did. (as i ungracefully walked down cobblestoned streets, haha). unfortunately, the bus that came was a double-decker - not good for nausea, but we made it home in one piece. after fishing around for some kind of medication, Chris and i settled in his room. not quite ready for bed and needing something to distract from his illness, Chris opted to watch Before Sunset. (i didn't even have to persuade him!) partway through we took a break to eat fresh strawberries, mmm.
(Jack, Dutchie, Harriet, Chris and i went for the big shop to Morrison's yesterday afternoon. the three of them thought it'd be funny if they pretended to be our kids. Harriet kept sneaking junk food into our trolley, and Chris jokingly disowned Jack for being a gay vegetarian who didn't play sport, ahaha. we picked up some delicious food though, yay! i'm going to make some nice desserts.)
i told Chris that in the mornings, i feel like i'm waking up next to the best Christmas present. you know that euphoric feeling of "Eeeeeeeeek! Yes! It's all mine!" when you get something you've been wanting for awhile? i still feel that with him, and am delighted.
today, i had another lecture. afterwards, went to the History Department to pick up my evaluations from last term. (where are my evaluations from English first term? no idea) i got a 63 on my final Food & Drink paper, giving me about a 63 overall in the course. i got a 63 on my Gender & Society exam, but she (really, what did she expect?!) was surprised that my exam didn't quite measure up to my classroom input. well, duh - it's timed writing. i got a 73 for coursework though, so a 68 in the course overall. that means, kids, that quite happily, i am pulling a strong B+ average, yay! not quite as perfect as Glendon work, perhaps, but for a crazy British evaluation system, i'll take it.
Thai prawn curry for tea tonight, and hopefully, some progress on sorting my Homer essay topic. also, talking to Mom would be nice. haven't heard updates from home for over a week now, and not a word on Mother's Day.
