along with myself, Chris, Dutchie, Harriet, Anthony, Welshie, Katie, Joel and Anna are back. a bunch just came today, like Anna with her new unicycle. (she juggles and does poi as well as conducting a school choir and studying Physics. goodness.) anyway, last night a few of us were in the kitchen after Ellen had arrived, just catching up. Mark suddenly walks in, soon followed by Faye. they're "official" now, ack. i'm just hoping that means she'll be less annoying and in the background. whatever. point being, they were leaving soon but Mark happened to mention that Jack was ill and had been in hospital.
my Jackiebear?! phone him this afternoon, found out he's had tests done after pain and suffering. he has mumps, the poor thing. he won't be back for 2-4 weeks, maybe longer. i can't believe it. this term is suspected to be comparatively bad, but without Jack for a good chunk of it? i can't imagine what'll be like... missing a member of your family in a way, isn't it? ohh, but i hope he gets through it quickly and alright. he's had a rough time of it, this year with illness. i want him to be okay. in good news, he did have a fabulous break until now, haha, which is good.
since being back i've done laundry, watched Brothers & Sisters, put a few of the photos up on Facebook, spent time catching up with the others, being with Chris while he isn't at American football, and getting prepped for Week 1. aside from the exam, i've sorted everything else i should be doing. just need to actually start studying for that pesky thing! eeek.
i love the corridor filling back up, it just feels comforting having everyone around. cheerful, talkative, generally pleased to be here. the geese are on top screeching form. when we left they were mating, and now they've got eggs and nests. while this does mean that we get the most adorable fuzzy babies around, we also get mad squawking, protective, vicious, snap-at-your-ankles geese. at the entrance to Cell Block, the ground is raised, so they can actually charge at you at face level.
dinner in a bit: sausage and mash, mmm. become a bit of a habit, haha, but it is tasty.
