they both walk past each other in the halls, but no words are exchanged. they always see each other at the apartment, but they never converse. they never share slow glances of flirtation, but they both know it’s there.
jaejoong walks by yunho to get to the elevator to get to the press conference, yunho only walks by without a word.
yunho stops momentarily and jaejoong can hear the footsteps cease for a second.
‘why do you have to do this jaejoong?’
‘you of all people, the leader, should know.’
jaejoong walks into the elevator and he turns his back, yunho balls his hands up into fists and he walks away.
when jaejoong wakes up in the morning, he can hear yunho talking to the manager about himself, yoochun, and junsu.
‘don’t you think this has gone to far?’
their manager falters for a bit, but he stands his ground.
‘yunho, it’s their own choice.’
yunho looks at the ground and he can feel the pent up rage in him boiling.
‘i…i just want to protect them, most of all…jaejoong. i don’t want anything to happen to them, their my brothers, and i’ll never leave them behind.’
yunho walks away back into the complex corridor and jaejoong falls to the ground, with his back leaning up against the wall.
jaejoong softly sobs as he can still hear yunho’s footsteps lessening as he walks farther and farther away.
it begins to rain, and yunho checks inside the apartment, jaejoong’s missing. he can see changmin and yoochun watching the same show on the television, but they’re sitting so far apart, yunho can barely stand to see this happening.
he grabs the youngest by the shoulder and yoochun by the collar. he pushes the two of them onto the couch.
‘you two are brothers, you’ve both been with each other since the beginning of your, no, our careers, and you’ll be with each other until the end.’
just then, junsu walks into the room and yunho grabs him by the tips of his hair and pushes him onto the couch also.
‘i won’t accept us fighting like this, we’re family now, whether you like it or not. so stop your bullshit, we’re all in this together and if one of us goes down, we’re all going down.’
yunho walks over to the door and he grabs his car keys.
‘i’m going out to bring jaejoong back.’
the door slams shut and the three youngest sitting on the couch break into a fit of laughter. after awhile of chuckles and laughs fill the air, the three of them are smiling. junsu whips out his and changmin’s favorite video game while yoochun’s cheering for changmin and trying to distract junsu. the apartment is filled with laughs, just like it should be.
yunho’s out driving in the rain looking for jaejoong. he drives by a sidewalk and he parks his car, it’ll be easier to find jaejoong on foot, even if it is raining. he’s running on the sidewalks turning his head every which way, but jaejoong is nowhere in sight. yunho walks into a nearby park and he can see jaejoong on the swings. he slowly walks over to jaejoong and sits down on the other empty swing next to him.
‘so this is where you were hiding?’
the rain is still pouring and jaejoong doesn’t answer.
‘we’re a family jaejoong. we go through some problems and crap, but family sticks by each other. and in the end, family are the only ones who really protect you and stand by you in the end.’
jaejoong stands up.
‘yunho, i need to tell you something.’
yunho stands up and jaejoong is about to say it when the both of them can hear a car honking and blinding lights. the car comes to a standstill and three people rush out, running over to yunho and jaejoong. changmin, yoochun, and junsu run over to yunho and jaejoong.
‘hi you guys, why are you two out in the rain?’
junsu’s laughing and changmin follows suit. after a sew seconds, the five of them break out into laughter and they’re running around and jumping into puddles. the youngest walks over to jaejoong and jaejoong is a bit startled at first.
‘i missed you jaejoong.’
jaejoong smiles and he hugs changmin back.
‘i missed you too changmin.’
changmin lets go and walks back over to the car.
