Day 2: Osaka - Kumamoto

May 12, 2013 21:00

Woke up at 3am to catch the hotel shuttle to Kansai airport. From there, we had to take a >1hr bus ride to Itami airport, where they freaked us out by saying that our flight was cancelled. What they really did was rearrange their flights because they were so empty. When we finally got to Kumamoto, we met up with one of our distant relatives (Tomoko-san), who then took us to see some of the older generation. She was the only one who spoke English, so she was our translator. We learned so much about our family's history, and we got to eat amazing amounts of delicious food (I'll edit later to add pictures.) We spent more than 5 hours talking to them. While Tomoko-san was driving us to the hotel and fmaily homes, I couldn't help but notice how nice and calming the area is. It's a lot of farmland, and we found out that our 90 year old relative is still working in the field!! There was so much to talk about, and I'm extremely exhausted again. They said that they'll take us to Kumamoto Castle and Mt. Aso tomorrow. I need to rest up for that, so おやすみなさい!*\(^o^)/*
