Thanks to
Paperbackswap, I have a ridiculously huge to-be-read pile of books. Ridiculous. I have SO MANY BOOKS, and so many that I would love to read at the same freaking time. Sometimes I want to swim through the piles of my books like Scrooge McDuck swims through his gold, lol.
Right now books that I am looking forward to reading once I'm done with the 2 books I'm currently juggling (a collection of Jane Yolen short stories Kurt recently got for me, and "The Great Bridge" by David McCullough about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge) is the Ring trilogy by Koji Suzuki and the three "Forever Knight" books published in the '90's. I cannot abide the Ring movies, when I got dragged to the first one by my BFF years back, I felt that the kernal idea of the movie was intriguing, but the execution was garbage. When I found out that not only was this an adaption of a Japanese movie, but that the Japanese movie was an adaptation of a Japanese book i thought, well, perhaps the book is worth reading. Of course, what I ended up reading was still a translation, but hey. Excellent! Also really enjoyed the sequel, "Spiral". I recently receivd the final book, "Loop" last week and I am almost quivering with anticipation to read all three back to back, and finally see where the story ends.
Hokey as it could be, I love the "Forever Knight" series. When I found out that there were three novels published taking place in that world, THEY HAD TO BE MINE. Took a while but thanks to paperbackswap and ebay, they are mine and I want to sit on top of them the way a dragon sits on top of gold, muahahahahaha.
EDIT:
BOOO!!! I just found out thanks to poking around Amazon.com that there is a 4th "Forever Knight" book, "On Holy Ground" by Jean Graham. This book is unavailable on amazon, no one is offering it on Ebay, and it doesn't even exist in the Paperbackswap database. I have to figure out how to get my grimy mitts on a copy. Hmm, might be time to check Abe books....
