I found myself in a traditional Japanese house, getting dressed in what I can only describe as what the samuari wore when they were at home... Except I had a Katana strapped to my waist. I wasn't thinking about why I was here or whether it was a dream or not, I just had one thing on my mind. Focusing on making sure Tim had a quick and painless death.
I slipped on my sandals and walked down a hallway to a door, hit my fist on it 3 times, then continued on to the main area of the house. I can't remember what it looked like on the inside, but it doens't matter, the general atmosphere was dark. Almost cave-like. I then kneeled onto the ground and waited patiently. Tim finally entered the room, hands binded behind his back, silent and expressionless. The one thing that caught my eye for a split second was the fact that I couldn't see his eyes. It seemed as if they had been covered by shadow, but I quickly forgot about it. Not only because I for one wouldn't like to see his eyes one last time, but also because I had to concentrate at the task at hand.
As I rose, he kneeled, his head slightly bent forward. "Are you ready?" I asked as I firmly grasped my sword. He remained silent. A man suddenly appears behind him, as if he himself were a ghost, and rests his hand on Tim's shoulder while softly smiling at him. Removing his hand, he steps back and nods to me.
I don't even remember swinging, nor would I want to.
All I remember afterwards is standing there, sword drawn and resting in my right hand as if it knew its job had been completed. My mind blank of any emotion except that of twisted combination of satisfaction and an underlining feeling of horror of what I had just done. Still looking ahead, Tim was no longer in my field of view, but I knew that he was lying on his side motionless. The man smiled his soft smile again and slowly bowed.
I closed my eyes and followed suit.
Waking up last night, I half expected to see Tim sitting at my desk, watching me with his eyes covered with shadow.
I need to get back to work.
