I enjoy my days off, even when they're the days I need to "babysit" my Grampa. They give me time to relax, play some games, work off the stress of, um, work. (No pun intended.) And, most importantly, it gives me time to work on my cosplays.
I doubt there'll be much time when I don't talk about cosplay, but I just can't help it. Having that creative outlet is the greatest stress relief in the world for me, and I love plotting and designing my costumes, and overcoming the difficulties of making the costume. It's a work-out for my brain, I love it.
Today, I worked on two separate cosplays. One was Yokuhi (of course), and the other is my Seras Victoria. I already talked about my plans for Yokuhi, but Seras was one I was planning before Yokuhi. The version of Seras I'm doing is Blood Seras. Be warned, there are spoilers up ahead. So, if you really wanna know, go ahead, but if you haven't read volume 7 of the Hellsing manga, then it may ruin it for you a bit.
"Blood Seras" is the name used to refer to Seras when she has at last evolved into a vampire. This happens when she drinks the blood of Pip Bernadette, who was killed by Zorin Blitz. Seras, who has lost her left arm, drinks Pip's blood, and simultaneously absorbs all the blood around her, staining her uniform a dark red. Her missing arm becomes a randomly shifting mass of shadow-matter, and her eyes turn permanently red. I will be doing not just this version, but from the point where Seras uses her shadow-arm to create a set of wings, and flies off to the rescue of Integra. A bit ambitious, but it promises to be fun.
For Seras, all I did today was work on her uniform top some. I've already made the skirt, and I have the boots, and the thigh-highs are on the way. I also have the wig, but it still needs some minor styling. That's about it, for now. The wings are in the planning stage.
As for Yokuhi, I did some experimental work on making her feet. I have some Wonderflex lying around, that's a heat-activated plastic that you can shape and mold rather easily. I cut this into strips today, and shaped them over my shin, while wearing my tabi boots. The result is a little bit slip-shod, but I successfully created the shin for Yokuhi, and inserted some eyelets for lacing. I also still have lots of Wonderflex left, so I should be able to make the rest of the foot, and start on the second. I consider this to be trial-and-error, so I'll see how the result turns out. When I'm done, I expect to have a complete, wonderflex-made bird-foot, that I can wear over my tabi boots.
Well, I should get off to bed. I still have work tomorrow, after all.
