Christmas markets in Germany

Dec 22, 2011 22:09

Hello everyone!!
Only two more days left until the Holy Nigth and the Christmas holidays. Have you done all your preparations?
Tomorrow I will decorate the Christmas tree and will finish my last presents (^-^)

I went to Christmas market and Christmas parties very often this year. I had a lot of fun and want to share some of my impressions from the German Christmas markets I visited with you!

Christmas market in Weimar

I went to the Christmas market in Weimar with my parents at the first Sunday of Advent. Actually my mum wanted to go shopping this day and we deciced to go to the Christmas market and a shopping center called Atrium. It was the first time for me to go to Christmas market in Weimar even if I am at vocational school in Weimar for two and a half years now.
The Christmas market is streched over a few streets and ends up at a small place with a Christmas pyramid and a Christmas tree. It was nice to look around there even if it was kind of crowded.

Christmas market in Jena

While I'm living near Jena I went to the Christmas market very often - even if it was sometimes just for some minutes. I also went there in my lunch breaks to get some Crêpes ♥
One night I went there with my parents and some neighbours. We drank a lot of Glühwein (hot wine). Some was really delivious. The Christmas market is parted in 2 parts - one with the normal Christmas market and another one with a Ferris wheel and some kind of roller coaster. For a few days also a Middle Ages Christmas market took place which I really liked.
For sure the shopping malls are decorated with a lot of lights, too. I loved to go to the Goethe Galerie with all the lights shining inside of it.

Christmas market in Erfurt

I heard a lot of good things about the Christmas market in Erfurt from friends, but I never went there before. This year I went there even two times with some German and Japanese friends.
The Christmas market is streched along a street from the main trainstation to the dome. Infront of the dome there is a really big area with a lot of market stalls, shops which sell food and Glühwein - and for sure there is a Ferris wheel, too. Especially the dome gives the whole area a wonderful athmosphere. I drank different sorts of Glühwein (blueberry, roasted apple) which were really delicious. And I ate an xxl-bratwurst (sausage). I especially liked the little Fairytale Forest where you could see characters of famous Fairytales. And I loved to ride the Ferris wheel (*^*)~ ♥ All in all we had a lot of fun, I think.

I hope you like my photos (^-^)
That's it for today! I try to write once more soon - about Christmas!

See you soon  ♥
