I have issued a challenge for myself. I have always fretted over not being able to successfully write any poems. I suck at it! But I have decided that I am NOT going to suck at it. I am going to write amatuer poems for 7 days straight. Even if I run out of ideas, I am going to do it ANYWAYS! Anyone want to join me in the 7 days of poems challenge?
What inspired me to do this was my american literature class. I am really enjoying learning about poems and different authors. So I was fed up with being so stubborn about trying to write a good poem! I decided to write one, good or not.
So! Here is my first poem. I was actually very happy with it. I don't care what you think about it, I like my poem. :3
It is called...
A dumb poem about the library by chelsea petree
"All those books on the shelves
lined up so cleverly
dust flickers in the dim light
rousing from the pages
my breath forms on the window
little birds in the fields
i will briefly set my gaze
letting my mind wander
Oh I want to go to my quiet corner
surrounded by those musty pages
absorbed in the dictionary of my mind
listening to them turning, turning
I so want to go there day in and day out
To think and think and let my mind stray
No one is a bother, to me they aren't there
But I know they have that inner peace
that I am feeling now!
Close to my heart I keep it
every single day
That card I call my treasure
my new found happiness
I have never liked learning
I don't like to read much
But when I'm kinda gloomy
Peace is around the bend!"
Since I am learning to play the guitar, I am thinking about putting it to chords and making my first song ever. :)
