I have been a part of the local Camarilla since September 2006. In that time, I have observed the steady, inexorable decline of membership. Simply uttering the word "Camarilla" is enough to convince the vast majority of local gamers to stay home or find something else to do.
When you really look at it, it's easy to see why.
The Camarilla is

You are precisely right and this is exactly my point. As a rule, Sonoma gamers don't travel and are utterly uninterested in any game outside Sonoma. This, in turn, causes others not to visit us.
...so why be a part of the Cam?

This is primarily a discussion for the Santa Rosa, RP, Cotati crowd.
And frankly doesn't affect you beyond what games you can visit.

The Requiem game is painfully writhing under the boot of the camarilla. The players and the entire chronicle have been disrespected by the higher ST's and the lower echelons have little power to change that. The numbers for it have tanked yet there is still a fervent and very dedicated following. But the question remains, why not make it a troupe game?

I am in the same boat as Roo, I did alot of hard work to promote the local scene for many years and would be sad to see it go away to apathy.
Instead of having it just go away those not interested in the cam should just choose not to participate and not re-up their membership and allow those who do want to continue on to remain as a domain or chapter or what ever is left.

What I do love is Vampire. And frankly that game has a gut wound that just won't heal.
It's a very fair assessment to say that I'm really only concerned about the vampire game. Which I love. And I would support this domain tooth and nail if it could prove to me that it could save it. But having been an ST. Having watched what the chronicle and club has been doing with the games, I'm not optimistic.

But the game and domains have grown and have been inherited by a new batch of players. Yes you were instrumental in its formation and growth. So you should have a say.
My position is simply that when the ability to play in the sonoma-napa domain is already limited and restricted by OOC concerns, why should their desire to keep it a Camarilla game hold as much weight than those able to play regularly and are not satisfied with how the Camarilla has treated the chronicle and us as players as a result?

It works like this: Out-of-towners come in and see that you work hard to make your game awesome. They go to their domains and say, "Wow! We had such a great time in Sonoma, that we're going to organize a monthly field trip to play with them!" They do this, and one game a month becomes a really good game with a lot of players, some of whom are from out of town - but you know what, that's okay. That's what the cam is supposed to do. So, yes. You should absolutely pay attention to what people who belong to other domains have to say. Sometimes, the outside perspective is the most objective.
