I enjoy reading the essays at McSweeney's; they remind me of the funnier "Shouts and Murmurs" articles in The New Yorker. This one in particular by John Moe I adore, being a Billy Joel fan and all. It never fails to make me laugh out loud ( Read more... )

Okay, I appreciate that you're an actual Billy Joel fan, but I heard this song for the first time earlier this year, and had almost the same reaction as this essayist. And since then, "Billy Joel" has been a go-to guy for random musician reference jokes.

The Robot Chicken folks made a similar joke recently: Billy Joel would make up songs about people and then kill them to absorb their power. "Sing me a song, I'm the Piano God!"

And then he was shot by "the real estate novelist, otherwise known as unemployed."
