so lets pack up our bags and settle down where palm trees grow

I'm back in the contiguous US.
Man am I tired.

To say the least, leaving Alaska and KPL was rough.
Getting home was rough.
And now getting motivated, prepared, and back to RA training at OSU less than 2 days after my return to the lower 48 is rough as well.

But I'm ready for it...kinda.

Within the last week of my employment at KPL (Kenai Princess Lodge) I:
-started and finished my hiking trail map project. Shout out to "mighty" Joe Younger and my manager Angel for doing about 80% of the project...Joe was drunk and high during his part, as well. Classy.

-worked 40some hours (yes, even the day I left I worked 7am-11, checked out at 1130am and was packed up and on my way to Anchorage by noon. Half of those were hostess shifts.

-got pied twice in the face and once in the ass by Forklift, Timmy, and Al. I got baited to go in the back by Chef Dave! But I resisted because I'm sneaky like that and then they sent Angel to lure me back. I hung up my dress shirt and slowly walked to the kitchen to accept my fate. I deserved it. After all, I pied Casi and Emily very maliciously.

-said some really hard goodbyes. I hope most of the good ones come back for next season...

I spent over 30hr in various airports, airplanes, and fast food stands. Anchorage to Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Chicago, and Chicago to Pitt. Needless to say, I slept about in 2-3hr increments on the planes or took 30-40min catnaps in terminals. Pomegranite frapps from Starbucks and good old McD's...man did I miss civilization. My hair was so greasy at one point it made a helmet of grossness for half of my trip. So much for trying to look decent in a sea of hot people at the airport. My last flight was delayed for almost 2 hours. My baggage got lost and I found it in the office in Pitt after waiting an hour for it. Thats all i can remember about the journey home. And now I am back.

My summer just ended.
Now its time for the school year.

drive slow homie,
-yohe
