All drunk people are the same.

All drunk people are the same. I don't care if you're 25, 15, or 50. It's all the same. Sure... some people argue that they are "happy" drunks or "emotional" drunks. But put different people into the same situations and I promise the same outcome. I sat at this upscale restaraunt in Del Mar, California with my dad, my sisters, and my dad's ex-girlfriend from ages ago. Her name is Nanette. (I like the name.) My dad was 21 and she was 16. That is so rediculously illegal. But that's my dad for you. She talked to me about college as she drank her champagne. My dad said, "A bottle, to start." And my sister looked at me and repeated, "To start?" I told her to be quiet. I listened to Nanette go on and on about things that I hardly remember. She's been with this guy twice her age for about 20 years now and she's taken on the entire family. She's a grandma and she's 5 years younger than my dad. She wears huge diamonds on her fingers but she talks like a good person so I'm ok with her. After they finished the bottle and move on to "by the glass" she decides to tell me and my sisters about our father. "Girls... I love your father," she looks at him and smiles, holds his hand, and continues. "I really do. You know your brain is like a memory bank and some people in your life you just forget, but others... I have so much space in here for your father full of great memories..." Like the time he took your virginity? I couldn't help but think. Hah. That cracks me up... "He has such a big heart." It made me happy to hear someone talk like that about my dad. I know he appreciated it. He goes through a lot and it's nice to hear someone giving him some credit. My sisters and I were getting antsy and I had gone to the bathroom about 3 times until my dad got the hint that we wanted to go. She promised to see us in LA this weekend and I wonder if the sober Nanette will keep that promise. Nanette and my dad kissed and we walked to the valet. All drunk people are the same. They say things they wouldn't normally say because it's hard to think of the future when you are living for that moment. They all come to terms and make decisions about things that usually take a lot of thought. Getting drunk once in a while is good for most. Plus... getting your parents drunk is the best cuz then you can take advantage of them.
