The Friday 5

(Yes, posted on Saturday AM.  I went to bed early last night and never got online.)

1. If you could change one life-changing event in the life of someone important to you, would you? This is a really hard question.  There are a lot of people who have gone through times of pain and hardship, but I think that they've been growth experiences.  I guess I'd have wished Erin never got cancer -- we lost her much too early.
2. Which do you think is easier to do, being friends for many years, or being life partners for many years? I don't know what the difference is in these two?  Does life partners imply sex?  I think both are easy and hard in different ways.
3. Have you ever walked away from someone you considered a friend? I guess that could apply to break-ups... I've only really walked away from toxic friends.
4. If you had to choose between telling the truth and hurting a friend or lying and making them happy, which would you choose? It would depend on the issue and how I thought hurting them would affect our friendship.
5. Which would you rather hear--the truth which will hurt, or the comforting lie? If I really need to hear it, give me the truth.  I might cry and pout and not take it well, but in the long run, I like to think it would make me a better person, especially if the truth is related to something negative that I'm doing/being.

On a side note, this is an interesting Friday Five because just this week, I had one of those conversations with a friend, where the truth hurt.  However, if giving me the comfortable lie would have pushed us apart as friends (which I'm afraid it would have), that would have been, by far, the worse of the two options.  Now I just have to take the truth I was given and make the changes I need to, in order to continue being a good friend.
