There goes my baby...
My computer is suffering from a hal.dll error, so only time will tell whether booting from the XP disc will be able to restore it or not. This makes me sad. Very sad. Because even though I've had my computer for nearly 4 years now, and as such I've been bracing myself for its death, I don't want to say goodbye to it her. Misa-misa was my first computer, and I love her dearly. I also don't want to shell out for something else, and I really don't want to deal with Windows 7. (I mean, what's so wrong with loving XP anyway, hmm?)
I'm just glad I have this iPod, because otherwise I'd be feeling bereft like you don't even know. And that's the other thing - I have all my important files backed up, so I'm not worried about that. What I am worried about is the loss of all my bookmarks, because since Firefox saves them differently than IE does, it never occurred to me to try and save them. And now I'm just thinking about all those fics that I'll never remember to find again, or the random stuff like the Integral Diner, and god knows what else.
Sigh. I wish this weren't happening, but better now, when I have the time and money to deal, than in the middle of term when I probably wouldn't.
