Climb a ladder up to the sun

Ever since I heard it when we were out shopping, I cannot stop listening to Coldplay's "Talk". And yes, a lot of that is the Kraftwerk sample, which is as perfect a riff as has ever been recorded, but sososo much more is the atmosphere of it all. Ok, sure - Colplay are nothing but safe corporate sellouts and everyone despises them, but they have some fantastic songs. This is one of them. It just...I don't know. Makes me think of forests after a rainstorm, when it's cold and water drips from the leaves and you can see the wisps of your breath as you wind your way deeper and deeper...

Contentment, I think. Just absolute contentment. There's a bit of a dark edge to it, and the coldness of it is rather important to how it feels, but it still speaks to something that's completely at peace. iLove.

Actually, the first sentence of this post is a lie. I had a nice break this morning when I listened to nothing but that Jesse McCartney song. Look, sometimes you just want some pop, and "Right Where You Want Me" fits the bill and then some. It's lyrically cheesy, melodic as hell, and filled with this great undercurrent of want that's sort of infectious. I love it just as much as "Talk", but with a totally different part of my soul. (Before I leave the topic of music completely, I just want to say that I rather enjoy TV on the Radio's "Family Tree" as well.)

Ok, aurgasm over. Still haven't watched the D-dubs Christmas Special yet. I think I'm just not as into it as I used to be. Series 4 ruined a lot for me, it seems. I'm aching to watch the Vietnam Special, though, and as long as mom and Jeremy can restrain the urge to WoW for, I don't know, another hour, I can watch it tonight. Fucking firewalls, though. The download speeds could get downright biblical at MIT.

Hmmkay, I feel like I should tear myself away to give Clazziquai's album a listen, like I've been meaning to for weeks now. I just keep getting distracted by fanmixes. And The Bugle takes precedent, of course. Stephenf should too, but I haven't got round to his latest yet. Oh, and now I'm apparently listening to Phill and Phil's Perfect Ten, which means I've got another back catalogue to work through. Not to mention Huge's audiobooks, the Paperweight audiobooks, and that radio play I've had hanging around for ages, all of which are getting bumped because I can't get over the loveliness of this damn Coldplay song. Dear oh dear, why do I do these things to myself?
