Tonight Andrew-the-awesome-subdir said that he trusted me more than at least one of the Night subdirectors (pretty sure I know who that is, oy) and it made me *:3* internally. I really think I'll get to be a subdir next term, which will be cool. I mean, not to be bragging or anything, but I think I'd make a damn good one. Because with some of them, I'm like "um, it's called responsibility, guys", and responsibility (when it's not homework-related, of course) is something I can actually do, so yeah. Happy.
Walked a good 3 miles in 20 degree weather (with a wind chill of, like, -12) today to get a BPL card. Mine is blue, which the dude told me was the most popular choice. It made me smile. Of course, the only reason I went out of my way to go to the library was to get my hands on Watchmen, but that plan failed miserably. So I was disappointed, but whatever. I'll try again next weekend. And it was ok, because I bought myself Good Omens yesterday, which is pretty much the best present ever. I mean, it is perfection in book form. Seriously. I fell in love with both Pratchett and Gaiman separately on the basis of two books (first two Discworld books and American Gods/Anansi Boys, respectively), so them doing one together is win x infinity. But seriously, Good Omens is amazing. And I'm only 64 pages in.
Of course, I also visited our own library yesterday, so I've got the next three Discworlds sitting there just waiting to be read. I will get through all of them if it kills me. Which it won't, because they're awesome.
I think that's all for excitement. I discovered that Gin Blossoms (the Gin Blossoms?) are responsible for three of my most childhood-nostalgic songs EVER, so I'm really happy about that. I love figuring that stuff out. Like Rod Stewart's "Young Turks". All I had was the chorus somewhere deep at the back of my mind, and my great-aunt bought a Best Of while she was in C-ville for my graduation and played it in the car, and eventually the song came on and it was such a great "OMG!!!" moment for me. Oh, music from my early early youth, never leave me.
So, plan for tomorrow:
1 - wake up in time for IHOP, because I want to experience it at least once, dammit!
2 - do laundry at some point.
3 - listen to Sgt. Pepper's to see if I want to do my paper on it.
4 - try to look like I'm studying for physics or something.
5 - read Good Omens as much as possible.
6 - rip America (The Book): The Audiobook in good quality from my shiny, newly-purchased copy.
7 - go to Tetazoo and hug Rachel.
8 - ...food?
Wow, my life is super-duper exciting, isn't it?
EDIT: Since this post was lacking in the creepy fangirl department...I forgot about this, but due to my sporadic re-listening to America (The Audiobook) (I got a head start on my list), I know how Jon would say my name. Or rather, how he does in the context of Miranda v. Arizona. Not that it's anything special, but I was just la-dee-dah-ing and all of a sudden I hear my name. It's a weird feeling. But yeah. America (The Book) is ohsoshiny.
EDIT 2: And whaddya know, I know how Stephen says my name too.
EDIT 3: Oh my God, John O's website is called
Mr. John Oliver.com. Holy shit, you think you can't love a guy any more, and then he goes and is all adorable like that...sigh. Oh John O, you make me so, so happy.
-->EDIT 3a: Oh, baby...I mean, he lists Demitri in his like section, and he's MySpace friends with FotC and apparently in a relationship and OH MY GOODNESS, I'M DYING OF THE CUTENESS, OK? GOD I WISH I HAD KNOWN YOU WERE IN BOSTON EARLIER THAN I DID BECAUSE I TOTALLY WOULD HAVE FOUND A WAY TO GO.
But really, John O = ♥
