So many new gameplay vids and I'm really curious about some of the stories but my internet has been loading videos at the speed of a lethargic snail for the past few days :'(
Masanori's story is nothing special; it mirrors Kiyomasa's story except that he gets Odawara Castle instead of Kyuushuu. But Masanori finally gets some personality! Even if it’s just more stupid.
The first stage, Shizugatake, has the usual bickering between the three idiots and at one point, Kiyomasa tells Masanori to save the mofuhead because “there’ll be a fuss if I go.” And when Masanori reached Mitsunari, Mitsunari's all "...This is a bad dream." Masanori’s all noise and bluster but I get the impression that he’s less antagonistic towards Mitsunari compared to Kiyomasa. Or more like, Kiyomasa's words sting more because he actually has brains.
After Toshiie reconciles with Hideyoshi, Masanori is all “this is so touching I could cry!” lol. I KINDA LIKE HIM BEING A BIG SOFTY.
Second stage is Komaki-Nagakute, fighting against Ieyasu. Nothing much special, Masanori complains about Mitsunari and Kiyomasa always bickering. Next is Odawara where he meets Kai and the following exchange happens:
Kai: You guys are dirty. Guys who don't fight boldly and directly are so uncool!
Masanori : That wasn’t my idea! I’m a cool guy!
…lol Masanori, your dignity, does it even exist
This stage also has a new cutscene! Ieyasu suggests that they lay siege to Odawara Castle and cut off their supply line; Kiyomasa disagrees, saying that a long siege would demoralize their troops and they should just do an all-out attack. Tension is thick until Masanori literally flips the table and suggests that they fight it out to decide whose suggestion to follow :DDD
Next cutscene, IDIOTS CONFERENCE
The only time Mitsunari appears taller than the other two
Kiyomasa and Mitsunari argue about the future of the Toyotomi; Kiyomasa wants to use Ieyasu to protect the Toyotomi and Hideyori, Mitsunari thinks that going to Ieyasu will just ruin the Toyotomi. Masanori suggests that they fight it out :D “Just like when we were young, fight ‘til we’re covered in mud and tears, and the loser has to obey the winner!” I WANT WEE IDIOTS FIC ASJDKAHSLJ
Sadly, Kiyomasa and Mitsunari have more dignity than that. The real conflict is between Kiyomasa and Mitsunari and I think Masanori just really wants them to get along regardless of whose idea they follow.
All throughout Sekigahara, Masanori’s all “I’m going to beat him up and teach him a lesson!”. When fighting with Sakon and Muneshige, he tells them that he'll defeat Mitsunari and the three of them will get together again afterwards. When Kobayakawa changed sides, Masanori rushes to defeat him because he's worried about Mitsunari. When heading towards Mitsunari near the end of the stage, Masanori says to Kiyomasa that he can feel the strength of Mitsunari's determination in the battle and that Mitsunari had always been so stubborn in fights. Then at the end of the stage, he defeats Sakon and Mitsunari and the following dialogue happens:
Masanori: From tomorrow onwards, you and me and Kiyomasa will get up stupid antics together again!
Mitsunari: …Masa…no…ri…. I am glad… that I could fight with you… in the end… *dies*
Masanori: OH SHIT.
I THINK IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE TRAGIC but I was laughing so hard at the dialogue oh Masanori, did you just accidentally ko-ed the mofuhead.
And then the final stage, Osaka Castle. Masanori's all "We're the only ones who can realise Mitsunari's dream now, Kiyomasa!" I was expecting Sakon or Mitsunari to turn up and the idiots to save the day because a stupid happy ending would work for Masanori. But that did not happen and the ending scene was Masanori and Kiyomasa doing a suicide charge against the Tokugawa army a la Yukimura and it is all rather sad D:
I kinda really like Masanori even though he's really... not smart at all and a total embarrassment most of the time;;;
